Luke's povI couldn't believe this, this was so embarrassing and annoying. I've been at this university for no longer than five minutes and I've already met this twat, this twat that turns out is meant to be my roommate, I don't know his name, I don't care for it. We've been arguing back and forth for the past few minutes now and it was beginning to make a scene. "I'm not sharing with him!" he yelled yet again and pointed at me "he will perv on me!" he exclaimed, I rolled my eyes, I can't believe there is still homophobic people "don't flatter yourself, I have a boyfriend. Grow up mate" I shot back "so? gay guys fancy all guys, so if anything that makes it worse. I refuse to share a room with this pevert!" people were watching, especially this one guy I noticed, not too far away. "Fine then! swap with someone else! I don't want a homophobic roommate and I doubt the other flatmates do!" I shouted, I had no clue who the others were but I am begging that they are somewhat decent people, mega pft to all this crap.
"I'd rather have a homophobic roommate than a gay one to be honest, can't be dealing with that. Having a guy look at my junk as I sleep" someone spoke up from close behind us, great, another fucking asshole. I heard a sigh and heard another guy speak up "stop being a fucking dick and leave him alone, he's not done anything wrong to deserve this abuse" "no one wants to look at that" I muttered and glanced over to see who had spoke up and defended me, it was a guy around my age, maybe a year older and had some visible tattoos. "It's fine, he's just being an absolute knob" I said to him, appreciative of him sticking up for me. I noticed the other rude guy watching this whole encounter like pfffffffft before saying "yeah well I bet you're also a GAY FUCK. Have him if you want!" he yelled at the decent guy (yet to know his name) who was looking annoyed as hell "I'm actually straight. But at least I'm not insecure enough to share a room with a gay man and be a complete bastard about it" he started then rolled his eyes before continuing "maybe we will swap, he doesn't deserve this." Don't get me wrong, I'm still annoyed as fuck but fair play to him, not everyone would stick up for a stranger, especially in this type of situation.
"Gwon Chad! swap with him! stay away from the fags!" the guy next to nice guy said, well unfortunately at least I now know the name of the guy I've been arguing with, Chad, why does that not surprise me, a shitty name for a fucking dickhead. "How lovely of you." the slightly older looking tattooed guy said sarcastically and walked off with Chad, signing the sheets agreeing to swap roommates I assume. I stayed where I was, waiting for the nice guy to come back. A few minutes later I saw the dickheads walk off in another direction and the nice one walking back over to me "shall we?" he asked and held up his keys to our flat "hey..thank you for that. You didn't have to do that" I said and gave him an appreciative smile and we started walking up to the flat "I mean considering my original roommate seems to have the maturity of a young ape, I sorta had to" he said and chuckled, both of us walking our room. "Makes me wonder, how did people like that even get into university?" he asked, I chuckled at his comment "ah fuck knows, I'm Luke by the way" I said, introducing myself "hey Luke, nice to meet you" he said shook my hand "Michael Clifford" I shook his hand back and smiled "well, let's hope the other two flatmates are decent people too. Can't be assed for twats" I admitted, those two twats may not be our roommates but unfortunately we are still sharing the same flat as them, as well as two other guys ( we all applied for same sex flatmates for as you can probably tell by now) "have you seen them yet? I only saw those two..I guess they must be running late." Michael replied and put his guitar on the floor, I couldn't help but stare at it for a few seconds, I play guitar too but I felt too shy to mention that right now. "Top or bottom?" he asked, referring to the bunk beds that were in each room. "Nah not yet..dibs on top!" I said and chucked my backpack on the top bunk, I always preferred the top bunk, not really sure why.
Michael chuckled "knock yourself out!" he said and smiled fondly, we both unpacked our stuff and fortunately we got on like a house on fire. Michael and I were very similar and found out he was going to be studying music too, which explains the guitar. The university experience had started rough but Michael had already made it a whole lot better already, I'm thankful to have him as my roommate, let's hope the other two mystery flatmates are decent people too, I can only hope.
