ANGUISH FROM THE TOP

Hooded and standing at the top of the mountain,
I saw my people crying and writhing in pain,
Watched in disdain as they are denied their rights,
I saw the government swaying around with delight.

Staring further down from the mountain top,
I saw protesters beaten up to pulp,
With unconcerned leaders dishing out orders,
I saw the wailing of my people outgrowing its borders.

Viewing on from the height that I was,
The fake promises made to the youths are becoming a major alarming cause,
Feeling betrayed and not reliant anymore,
I saw the youths doing all they can to make sure they don't remain poor.

With the sun setting fast on me at my height,
The future ahead is filling me up with fright,
Will this inhumane activities ever come to a stop?
Or should I just ease this on myself and make the drop?
