JOURNEY

I sat down silently in the harsh wilderness of torment,
Back turned against the world as I silently to myself lament,
The plants within my reach withered right between my eyes,
The coldness of my heart became more potent than ice.

Nothing around caught my fancy,
I lost power over any form of fantasy,
Damp and cold were the qualifications of my abode,
Not even a sight of glittering diamonds or gold.

Loneliness breezed around with the wind,
Hidden features of my being suddenly popped up to get pinned,
Didn't falter to move an inch from my temporary settlement,
Just sat down there looking through my hood in absolute displacement.

The hissing of serpents filled the air,
Incessant chirping of insects occupied my ear,
With fearful animal sounds coming from every angle,
Unfazed I was without a surge of frightened startle.

Removal of my hood revealed how cold I looked,
The trees suddenly came alive as if being spooked,
While my surroundings also felt the gravity of what lies within my mind,
I sat down there thinking about the kind of life I had left behind.
