You Will Forever Be My Always: Josh Matthews

I Love You

From the little couch and the talk with Maya and Josh, tears pricking in my eyes.

The whole way through that conversation, I could see something between them, and since I knew Maya loved him, I couldn't help but feel a little jealous.

And a little nervous. The way Josh had been speaking to Maya was full of affection. What if her realised he didn't love me anymore. What if after all these years, he realised he was in love with Maya?

I opened the door and sat down on my bed, putting my head in my hands.

I sat there for a little while, but then I heard the creak of the door. "I'm really not in the mood to talk to anyone right now. So if you would please..."

The bed beside me dipped down just a little "Even if it was me?" Josh.

Of course it was Josh. I sighed "At the minute I don't know Josh...I'm conflicted..." And that was me putting it very lightly.

"Look, I'm sorry." Josh started.

"You don't even know what I'm mad about." I looked down at the floor next to my bed.

He tilted my head so I was looking at him again "Then tell me."

"Okay." I let out a shaky breath "This is going to sound so stupid and petty but...when you and Maya were talking, there was clearly something between you and I couldn't help but feel...you know...a little bit..."

"A little bit what?" Josh asked.

I shook my head "No, no, it's stupid..." Josh gave me a look that told me to 'stop stalling' "Okay, maybe I was a little jealous. And worried that you would leave me for somebody else."

"Yeah. It is stupid." Then and there, I was going to kill him "Because I am not going to leave you and you should know that."

Oh. "You say I should know that, but how can I be sure. What if one day there's another girl that arrives and catches your attention or...something like that...I can't help but be worried."

"Not even if I told you I loved you?" That shut me up.

We both sat silently for a minute as I processed Josh's sudden statement. "We've never said that before." I mused.

"I'm sorry. I've probably scared you away now haven't I?" Josh then got back up from sitting on my bed and made his way back towards the door.

But then I stood up and ran towards him, smashing my lips on his "I love you too."

"So, are we good?" He asked, pulling away.

"Yeah. We're good." Josh opened the door and no sooner had he left, a small blonde walked through the door. Maya. "So you heard that whole thing huh?"

"Yeah." Maya said and I couldn't quite detect the emotion.

I thought for a moment "Just a question, why did you want me there? You only talked to Josh."

"Before you left, I was going to tell you that I still love Josh." She said and I couldn't conceal the slight sadness  "And I can't pretend that I don't, but I know that you and him are so happy together and you have never done anything to intentionally hurt me. And I also know that if I did try to get in between you, I would be hurting a friend. And I can't do that to a friend."

Maya finished her soliloquy in complete silence. Before thinking I pulled the blonde into a tight hug "Thank you Maya." I whispered "That means so much to me."

"Yeah, yeah, enough with the emotions, now let's go and eavesdrop on Lucas and Riley." She smiled.

"I thought you'd never ask."
