"I don't even know where to go" I laughed at Michael's little knowledge of grocery shopping

"Let's go to whole foods" I spoke between my chuckles

"Where's that?"

"goodness Mikey do you not go grocery shopping at all?" I laughed at his innocence, its like talking to a child about grocery shopping

"I usually have them delivered" he shrugged

"Here" I pulled up the store on the gps, putting it in the phone holder he had on his vent

"Thank you" he smiled at me so sweetly

"Fine but only one box" I laughed at how much he begged for the stupid frosted flakes cereal

so far he's been wanting unhealthy things, but I can't blame him; I mean I want them too but I try to stay away.

"can you do me a favor and go grab a case of water? we forgot to grab that" I smiled, he nodded in agreement and turned around and went off

We had already made it through most of the grocery store at this point, we grabbed our fruits and veggies, grabbed some chicken and steak, some pasta and a couple of variations of juice and lemonade. We were just about done I just wanted to grab some breakfast items, I continued to look through the aisle for some oats until I finally spotted them. This place always had lots of options

"Kathryn?" my head quickly turned towards where my name was called

"Oh hi Kyle how are you doing?" I asked nicely

"I'm doing really well, you look amazing" He looked me up and down, I was slightly embarrassed knowing that the last we spoke I was running away from Michael down the street

"Thank you, just got out of work and needed groceries" I chuckled a bit

"Oh good, are you doing anything after?" he asked

"Not really, just going home and making dinner"

"Oh, well-"

"Kyle" Michael's voice interrupted "what are you doing here?" he set the case of waters under our cart before extending his hand out for a handshake

"same thing most people do at grocery stores" he responded sarcastically with a smile on his face

"Well its good to see you again, give our office a call if you need anything"

"Good to see you too," he spoke to Michael before turning to look at me "I'll text you?" He asked

"If there's something you need to ask her you can ask it now" Michael added

My stomach flipped out of nervousness, I haven't had any guys hit on me since before I met Jake since he would isolate me from any males, so this felt different

"I'm sorry do I need permission?" He took a step closer to Michael

Without thinking I moved myself in front of Michael, facing Kyle

"There's no need for any of this" I began "Kyle, Michael and I are dating so if you plan on texting me in any way other than just friends it would be better if you didn't"

"When you realize this guy isn't worth your time let me know" he turned to walk away

"Excuse me?" Michael spoke up in an angry tone, I turned to look at him

"Ignore him" I placed my hands on his abdomen, holding him in front of me so he wouldn't go chasing after Kyle "it's not worth it, lets just pay for this stuff and go home" he nodded in agreement and began pushing the cart towards the registers

We got to the front and he began to place the items onto the conveyer belt to be scanned, I walked over to the small fridge next to the check out to get us some waters to drink while we drive home. It wasn't until then that I noticed Kyle in line behind us, I looked around and this seemed to be the only line open so I can't really blame him

I could see how bothered Michael was, understandably so. I placed the two waters last on the conveyer belt, suddenly Michael cupped my cheek and pressed his lips on to mine. I was the one to pull away from the kiss, it reminded me too much of something Jake would do

"just pay please" I whispered, he looked confused but he turned around and paid the bill

"Are you okay?" Michael broke the silence

I had been quiet the whole ride, and didn't really talk much either while I put the groceries away and started dinner. I just felt so bothered by what he did, most women would find it cute but after all I've dealt with it just made me feel like he was marking his territory. I can't even count on my hands how many times Jake would do that when he felt someone was even looking at me the wrong way.

I just want to be trusted, I don't want him to have to do that any time someone makes a hint that they're into me or attracted to me. I want him to be secure in the fact that I am with him and wouldn't do anything to hurt him or us.

"not really" I finally spoke up

"what's wrong?" I continued to stir the food I was making, I went for low carb so I made egg roll in a bowl

"just what happened at the store"

"oh I know that guy is a douche" the food was pretty much done so I reached over and turned off the stove top

"no not that" I turned to face him "the fact that you kissed me knowing that he was watching"

"what's wrong with that? I needed to show him you're mine"

"Mikey you have to realize that the relationship I just left was like that all the time, it makes me feel like you're trying to mark your territory when I had already told him that you and I were dating and to not text me if he was thinking anything else"

"but he was being a jerk, I had to show him that-"

"had to? you absolutely had to?" I chimed in

"well-"

"was me telling him that you and I were dating not enough? Did I not put a stop to him hitting on me?"

"you did" he responded

"you have to understand, I've dealt with stuff like that for three years and I really don't want that anymore. I want you to feel secure in the fact that I'm with you and not have to do stuff like that because it just makes me feel like a piece of meat"

he walked up to me and engulfed me in a hug

"I'm sorry babe, I honestly just get worried that you'll leave me for someone else that I feel like I have to protect my treasure" he pulled away and looked me in the eyes "I'll be better, I don't want to make you feel that way"

he leaned down and kissed me so passionately that suddenly, my body was ignited in an overwhelming heat; and quickly I melted into a puddle in his arms
