Emily had pulled together the wedding with Skype calls with Casey. Who had chosen to have the baby. It added stress with ultra sound appointments and running around with Emily getting things ready. I'd felt the anxiety of the fact that I'd be a father. The doctor said Casey could travel since she is still early in her pregnancy but to stay away from fish and the usual at risk things while being pregnant.
I'd sent out invitations to the family hoping they would show but also hoping they wouldn't. Worried that they'd ruin the day that was fast approaching. Casey thanked me so many times for being a super fiancé during this time and I was exhausted but every time I saw her face it felt worth it. And with the final touches done and paid for thanks to the loan from my dad George. We now just had a nights sleep and in the morning we would be getting married.
"You ready for tomorrow?."
"More than ready."
"I'm nervous."
"Are you having cold feet Case?."
"No just wondering if they'll come."
"Let's hope for the best."
I kissed her forehead and we fell asleep holding one another. I had a surprise for our vows and planned to recite something from her favourite movie 'Tim Burton's The Corpse Bride'. It was morning and Casey was gone to get ready. She left a note saying see you down the aisle. I smiled and heard a knock at the door and Sam was there saying he would accept the invite and would be there for me. I thanked my best man and we went to get ready as we rushed to get the tuxes.
I arrived and saw how beautiful everything looked with the sunshine and flowers. How the seats were white to match the arch. It looked magical and I knew Casey would be happy that this was her dream wedding day. Most of the guests were already seated as I took my spot next to my groomsmen. Sam and Ralph also Cody who was my frat brother came down with Max and Truman. We had a lot more support then I thought.
Then when the wedding march started playing I saw that Vicky was walking Casey down the aisle. Emily and the bridesmaids where watching. Emily being maid of honour then Vicky and Noel who was Casey's play partner way back. And of course Tess who couldn't stop smiling. I was happy to see my mom showing up even though she looked uncomfortable. And dad was here looking equally awkward. And Casey's grandma showed so at least some family came through for us. Then I saw Casey in her dress.
A tear left my eye and I had to wipe it away she looked like an angel. My heart had stopped and I forgot to breath fearing if I did that this would all be a dream. And as Vicky came up to me she smiled.
"Take care of her."
"I promise."
As I took Casey from Vicky the priest began and then an hour later he told everyone that the bride and groom had written their vows. Casey's was a poem of promises for our future together and mine was moments of how I fell in love with her deeper and deeper and how it became a force. Then I recited the part from the corpse bride movie for Casey.
That's when the priest handed me and Casey the candles and Sam the cup filled with wine. Casey looked confused as I took her hand.
"With this hand, I will lift your sorrows
Your cup will never be empty, for I will be your wine
With this candle, I will light your way in darkness
With this ring, I ask you to be mine."She smiled and said "I do".
With those simple words we were now husband and wife. Soon to be parents and promised to each other forever. As the bridesmaids sprinkled us with daisy petals I saw Casey smile and we kissed. Everyone now saw and everyone now knew that this was real.
We walked back down the aisle and the reception began. My mom came up to me and smiled telling me she had never seen me that at peace. That she accepted us and would be there if we needed help during the pregnancy once we get back from our short honeymoon. Sam lifted a cup during his best man speech and said that it was a long time coming looking back. No one mentioned how we met but they were here for us now. Emily gave a beautiful speech and words of encouragement about how wonderful parents we will be. And there was not a dry eye in the house and a few gasps because not everyone had heard as it hadn't trickle down fully but everyone clapped.
The band kept playing and then stopped with Sam and Ralph asking me and Casey to join them. We went on the stage looking confused and that's when they brought out our D-Rock stuff.
"Everyone you will be hearing a once in a lifetime reunion performance from D-ROCK!."
Everyone started chanting D-Rock so we got into position and started playing the song.
"He said it was over but I never wanted it to end, you said it was over now it's hard to be your friend."
"Nana nana yeah nana nana yeah!."
As we played and Casey lit up with everyone jamming out to the song like we were teenagers again. I felt euphoric because this was a perfect moment. Once the song ended everyone applauded and we went to cut the cake and it was a three tier cake and it had decorative roses and daisies. Once we cut the cake it was on to the wedding games as Casey threw the bouquet and the girls were competing. The one who wasn't ended up getting it with the flowers landing in Tess's soup and her screaming. Everyone laughed. I then went to remove the garder from Casey's thigh and once it was off I threw it to my groomsmen with Ralph catching it.
Later on my dad and mom and Casey's grandma came to us and handed us a check from each. Casey's grandma giving her five thousand. My parents combing theirs and giving me ten thousand. We objected at first but they said it was to make up for how they treated us in the beginning. Casey and I tried not to cry but it was touching beyond belief. We all hugged and they congratulated us and meant it. Our wedding was truly perfect for us.
