Closing the fridge I abandon the Cool Whip on the floor, chucking the cherries onto the counter top. Forcing my way through the crowded kitchen I am determined to ignore the fact that this is Cain's house and just try to enjoy myself.
Looking around this beyond crowded place I feel stupid for even being worried, chances are I won't even meet eyes with him tonight. On my way out of the kitchen I pick up a can of beer sitting on the edge with a ton of other drinks.
Only because I don't feel like going to the hassle of pouring out vodka or something stronger into a cup. Beer is easy, portable. Making my way through the hallway I reach the Living room spotting everyone, including Liberty and Ray, along with a few other people I don't know sitting together on the sofa.
Apparently Ray has suddenly turned into a comedic genius in the past few hours because every girl in his vicinity is laughing as if he's fucking a professionally trained circus clown.
"Harry hey I was looking for you, wanna whip up some of our death drinks?" Liberty calls over to me with a huge grin on her face, resting her hands on the arm of the sofa leaning over Ray.
His eyes meet mine, my chest constricts and I look away instantly but don't miss the sad look that quickly takes over his face.
"I'm good just gonna stick to beer tonight" I walk over to the other side of the sofa where Suzy-May is sitting, taking my place on the sofa arm next to her.
Cracking the can open I take a sip, Liberty shoots me a look of upset before shrugging her shoulders and slinking off out the living room on her own. This causes one of the girls I don't know to immediately slide up closer to Ray on the sofa which frees up enough space for me to plop down next to Suzy-May.
She looks at me with a dazed grin and glazed, red eyes. She's definitely high.
"Did you find anything to eat?" She rests her head on my shoulder.
Ray falls back into my line of sight again, the girl cosied up next to him is saying something while twirling her finger through her black hair. He's ignoring her and looking straight at me.
The second I start to feel the urge to go over there and rip that girl off him, I snap my gaze away. She hasn't done anything wrong she's just at a party talking to a boy. I'm the one watching them like a fucking stalker.
"Why didn't you tell me this was Cain's apartment?" I distract myself with the Cain topic as second hand smoke and music float around me. I think the fact the guy who left me stranded in the middle of no where is somewhere in this apartment hasn't really sunk in yet.
I don't want to be anywhere near me when it does, and I am me.
"I did in the car silly" She snatches the beer from my hand and takes a sloppy sip, spilling some slightly on her white skirt.
My eyes instinctively roll but I sigh in defeat, she did tell me she saw me with the guy who owned this apartment at Yasmine's party. I can't be mad at her for not knowing what happened with Cain and that I hate him with every fibre of my body. I didn't tell her. I didn't tell anyone.
"Right, My bad" I take the can back, drinking a large gulp.
My head rests against the back of the sofa, I stare up at the ceiling just feeling the thumping bass of the music vibrate around me. People continue to dance around in the centre of the living room, I can hear the laughing and chattering of everyone on the couch next to me but I close my eyes. I'm not here.
I'm in Seattle. Suzy-May isn't next to me it's Sam. Ray's voice isn't his it's Kyle's. I'm not stuck in Florida feeling things I don't wanna feel. I'm at some stuck up private school kids suite party at some fancy hotel, I'm fucked off my face on overpriced booze and a boatload of drugs, some of which I don't even know the name of.
