Holding a laugh inside my throat I watch as my Grandad struggles to find a way out of the trap I set for him on the chessboard. Turns out I'm really good at chess. Instantly I managed to get a hang of how the game worked and now me and my Grandad are in the middle of our so far forty-five minute game.

His face when he noticed that In two moves I'm going to have him in check and there's nothing he could do to avoid it was absolutely priceless I wish I could've taken a picture of it.

"Come on old man hurry it up" I playfully roll my neck side to side, It's so much fun showboating especially after his 'You might not understand it that quickly' remark he decided to make as he set up the board on the coffee table.

"Watch it you" He grumbles but there's a smile on his face so I know he's not mad at me.

I'm having a hard time trying to hate him now, turns out we have a lot in common. Mainly they way we carry ourselves, I've noticed how he rolls his eyes like I do and that we both tap our hands on our knees when we concentrate.

I shrug my shoulders at him and my grandma lets out a laugh, stopping when my grandad looks at her as if she's just betrayed him which just makes me want to laugh at how seriously he's taking this.

"Oh are you sure about that?" I suck air in-between my teeth as his hand gravitates towards his last remaining bishop making him hesitate before rolling his eyes, ignoring my statement and moving it anyway.

It didn't making any difference to my trap, I just wanted to psych him out a bit for fun. I'm about to set my plan into action when theres a knock at the front door causing all three of our heads to turn towards it.

"Who's coming round at this hour?" My Grandma says as she sets her knitting down then standing up heading out the living room and towards the front door.

"Hey Mrs Chester sorry to bother you" My eyes widen when I hear Suzy-May's voice echo through the house.

"You're not a bother at all Suzy dear what can I do for you" My Grandma responds, I move the piece I needed to on the chessboard to hide the fact I'm eavesdropping. Realising there was no point to put up a front because by the distant look on my Grandad's face, he's eavesdropping too.

"I was just wondering if I could steal Harry for the night, me and my friends are having a sleepover and we'd really like it if she could come over" I can hear the excitement in her voice and I smile at the fact she's gone out of her way again to invite me somewhere.

"Well that sounds alright, come and sit on the couch while Harry goes and gets what she needs for the night" Me and my Grandad both flick our heads back down at the same time when I realise that both of them were coming here, pretending that we were focused on the game the entire time and not eavesdropping on their conversation.

My Grandad lets out a sigh as he makes another pointless move bringing me one more step towards my goal, I smirk moving the piece I needed to, I think it's fair to say he's given up on trying to beat me.

"Harry love" My gaze drifts up, I see Suzy-May smiling at me leaning against the sofa and I give her a small smile back trying to look confused as to why she's here even though I know exactly what's coming next "Suzy wants to know if you want to sleep over at her house tonight".

She's wearing  a cropped pale pink t-shirt with a pair of dark brown high waisted shorts. She gives me a little wave and I notice the bright pink ring pop she has on her finger.

"Yeah let me just go grab some stuff from upstairs" There it is, My grandad takes his final move and I quickly put his king in check before jumping up and running for the stairs "Check" I yell down as I leap up the stairs two steps at a me.
