Your POV

"(Y/N)?"

I looked at Nat worriedly. I didn't want to leave Mom either, but the strangers were already taking our things. When mom was done talking to them, she turned towards us and gave us what we didn't know was her last hug.

"It's gonna be the two of you from now on ok? So take care of each other."

"Mom.. w-what about you?"

My voice started to crack as tears poured down my face. When Nat saw me cry, she couldn't help but cry too, much louder than I was. Mom had tears in her eyes, but she still managed to smile.

"I'll be right here... and right here."

She poked my heart and Nat's before planting kisses on our heads. I didn't understand what she meant.

How can you be in a heart? You can't fit there.

Mom reached into her pocket and gave Nat and I an anklet. She said it was something she made herself, so we wouldn't forget her.

"You're silly mom. We can't forget you."

Nat said while wiping her face, but it was kind of pointless since more tears trailed down.

"That makes me happy. Now, I want you guys to grow up like normal kids. Go have a future. Make me proud ok?"

We hugged her tight. Not a minute later, we were being pulled away from her. This caused me to panic and cry hysterically. I reached for Mom, but she just stood there. I looked over to see Nat being held by another stranger. She was trying to escape.

No! No! What's happening?!

"LET ME GO! MOM! MOM! DO SOMETHING! They're taking us mom! MOM!!"

She looked at us with a smile, her eyes flowed with tears. One of her hands were raised to wave us off, while the other was covering her mouth to muffle her cries. From that, I knew that she meant for this to happen, even though it broke her. I gave up struggling and let the stranger take me.

"I love you both! Remember that ok?"

Okay... just wait for us Mom, we'll come back for you.

...

My eyes snapped open. I sat up and scanned the room. I was back in my room at the Survey Corps headquarters. For a minute, my memories recollected of the nightmare I just had. Unfortunately, that nightmare was a memory.

Tears sprung into my eyes. Then when it got too heavy, they flowed down my cheeks. My lip quivered and I choked on a sob. I buried my head into my knees as I clutched to the anklet around my left ankle. From there I cried, hoping that the position I was in muffled any sound.

All I could hear were my constant whimpers, that I didn't notice someone come in.

"(Y/N)? What's wrong? What happened?"

I looked up at the familiar voice. It was the Captain, he looked at me with alarmed eyes. He sat on the end of my bed and watched me shake from all the crying. I barely noticed that he called me by my first name.

"Levi...I-"

Instead of explaining myself, I got so overwhelmed I lunged myself at him. I pulled Levi into a hug and sobbed into his shoulder. At first, he didn't do anything. Then slowly, he touched my back, and the touch turned into rubbing.

He hasn't said a word. The comfort made me miss my family. I cried harder. Another ten minutes had already passed. I got tired and stopped, but I continued to rest my head on Levi's now wet shoulder.

"I got you food. Can you sit up?"

I felt nothing, but stomach rumbles slightly, so I probably should eat. I got off Levi and stared at the wet stain I caused on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry about that."

I said in a monotone voice. If I weren't so numb right now, I would feel so embarrassed I bet. At the moment, I didn't care. Levi didn't seem to care either, which was surprising for a germaphobe.

"Here. Eat. I'll go change and I'll come back."

He didn't leave until I nodded at him. Levi left a tray of food for me. I sniffled and started to eat slowly. When I was done, I went to the bathroom and stared at myself.

My eyes were so puffed up, you could barely see them. My hair was in knots, sticking out in various directions. My face in general was slightly swollen. The tears left marks across my face. I looked horrible, and Levi saw me like this...

As I was washing my face, I heard that my door opened. There was still soap in my eyes, so I was hoping that it was Levi. I quickly rinsed and patted my face dry. I walked out to my room and found Levi on my chair. He looked at me with concern.

I started getting my feeling back. I knew because my cheeks were getting warm.

"I'm sorry you had to see that."

I said as I sat down on the end of my bed, farthest from him. My head hung low in embarrassment as I thought about how I ruined his shirt with my tears.

"Did you need another hug?"
