19 - Levi

Levi's POV

I was at our door. My hands were full so I knocked with my foot.

"Name and business?"

I'm sure she's happy that she got to say it.

"Open up brat."

"Sorry I'm unfamiliar with that name, can you spell it out?"

A few moments passed before she opened the door. As I predicted, she was smiling excitedly.

"I got to say it!"

"I know."

(Y/N) looked at the food in my hands and took them from me. Once my hands were empty, she used her foot to close the door back on my face.

"Oi!"

"Name and business?"

Not a second later, she opened the door with an evil smile.

"Okayy, you can come in I suppose."

When she got settled back in her desk, she didn't hesitate digging in.

"Don't make a mess."

(Y/N) rolled her eyes, but nodded. I walked over and stood in front on her desk. She looked at me then watched me pull something out of my pocket.

I unraveled the cloth that covered it. (Y/N)'s eyes widened, her mouth dropped open.

"A cookie!!! Is it for me? Really?!"

I nodded and placed it in her hand. She inspected it closely as if she's never seen one.

"Where'd you get this?"

"I have connections. Think of it as my payment for extending your work hours."

(Y/N) placed the cookie carefully to her side.

"Thank you! You're the best boss ever!"

That comment brought warmth to my heart.

...

*knock knock*

(Y/N) shot her head up at me. She begged me with her eyes. I nodded at her.

"Name and business?"

She said with a smile that contrasted her serious voice.

"Armin Arlet. (Y/N) can I talk to you?"

I grew tense hearing him.

That little shit.

My eyes followed as (Y/N) stood up and rushed to the door. When the door closed behind her, I walked over quietly to eavesdrop on their conversation.

"(Y/N), you didn't join us for dinner.."

"I know, I'm sorry. I got busy with work."

"Oh okay.."

"What was it you wanted to talk about?"

"I... I wanted to ask you something about the party."

I held my breath. My heart was thumping so loud, I felt it in my ears.

"Sure, what is it?"

"W-would you like to be my date to the party?"

...

"Oh... Armin, I- *sigh* I would've loved to be your date, but someone already asked me."

Yes!

"I understand. I should've asked you earlier... Who are you going with?"

"Well... actually, Captain Levi."

Why did she struggle admitting that? Is she ashamed going with me?

"(Y/N). Don't you think it's kind of weird how quick he changed personalities around you?"

"I know, but it's not like I could've turned down the guy. What if he starts bullying me again if I rejected him?"

"That's true. Just be careful (Y/N). I'd be cautious about his real intentions."

My real intentions?

"Yeah... I have to go back now, thanks for visiting me. I'll see you guys for breakfast tomorrow."

I quickly walked over to the other end of the room to make tea. (Y/N) came back inside and sat back at her desk. She looked troubled. Maybe (Y/N) didn't want to go with me after all. I was hurt that she thought my openness was an act.

I poured a cup and walked over to her.

"Hey Levi, I-"

"You don't have to go with me."

She looked at me in shock.

"I heard the cadets during training. Armin wanted to ask you to the party, that's why he was here just now right?"

It wasn't a complete lie. I didn't want (Y/N) to know I was listening in on their conversation.

"You should go with Armin. I'm sure you'll have a better time with him."

I did my best not to show any sarcasm so she knew I meant it. I even smiled a bit to reassure her. Gently, I placed her cup of tea on the side of her desk.

I didn't blame them for thinking about me in that way, but I felt like instead of getting angry over it, I would try to prove them wrong. I didn't have any ill intentions towards (Y/N).

"A-are you sure?"

My heart broke at her response. Maybe she didn't feel the same way I did.

"Yeah, I'll find someone else."
