CHEERS!

To be in love is to to feel an inexplicable desire for a person. It means that to yearn for this person, to think about them constantly and to crave being around this person and spending time together.

Falling in love with someone can feel exciting, even exhilarating.

But over time, these feelings may settle into something that feels a little different.

Being in love with someone can fade over time.

That connection may not be strong enough to weather storms and make it through challenges unfazed.

The feeling of excitement goes away, and it's hard to truly feel the love.

Faking being in love, on the other hand, can be so easy.

"Why don't you come over later babe," Patrick rubbed Evelyn's arm, leaning on the blue locker next to her.

She grinned. It's been a while since they had a chance to be together for extended periods of time.

Evelyn pulled her phone out and clicked on her brother's contact, shooting him a quick text to let him know where she would be.

Michael has stopped really bugging her about Patrick, only because she was not with him as much anymore.

A response came back quick, saying his disapproval but mentioning he'd inform their Dad either way.

"Alright, let's go," Evelyn blushed as Patrick slipped a hand under her backpack around her waist, pulling her in.

He walked her to the car, lowering his hand to her hip.

She shifted uncomfortably, trying to move out of his grasp subtly.

Why was she uncomfortable in his grasp, she thought to herself.

He got into the driver's side of the car, as she walked around the car to the passenger's seat. She opened her door and slid in, throwing her bag down in front of her.

Luke opened the door for me.

She shook her head, reprimanding herself for even thinking of comparing her boyfriend to Luke.

The drive to his house was pretty quiet, with Patrick talking about his friends and their lacrosse practice nonstop.

It was alright for Evelyn, though; she didn't really feel like talking.

She thought back to how the week has gone, with Luke pretty much avoiding her existence entirely.

He had been at the house almost every day this week, though she wouldn't know considering he'd just drop into a room anytime he sensed her presence. It was getting quite ridiculous to be honest.

But, no matter; it was not up to her how Luke felt and what he did. He hated her and that was that. She could not control it.

Though she wished she really could.

Evelyn came back to her reality.

She cursed herself for thinking any of these thoughts in her boyfriend's car; he might not have been the most attentive lately, but he was still her boyfriend.
