"We haven't really hung out in a while, have we," Calum shifted his leg on the couch as Evelyn turned to the boy.
Admittedly, they hadn't hung out in a long time. It was her fault, to be frank. She had been with Luke every chance she got that she almost forgot how close Calum and her were.
Almost.
"I know," she felt guilty, looking down at her fingers.
"It's all good," he nudged her with his shoulder, "Let's do something today though. Just you and me."
She paused, looking over at him unsurely. Luke popped into her head. He was not controlling; far from it. But the fact of the matter was- she didn't want to hang out without him.
Evelyn couldn't say that though. Not to Calum.
"What's wrong?" Calum teased, "It's not like you have a boyfriend to stop you."
Yeah about that.
Luke isn't actually your boyfriend yet you dumb bit-
"Yeah?" she nodded, "You're right. Where do you want to go?"
"Coles?"
She nodded, getting up to walk to her room for a second. Evelyn mentioned something about getting ready and then locked her door.
Evelyn pulled out her phone and texted SOS to Ashton.
Ash: ARE YOU OKAY? WHY THE SOS. WHERE DO I NEED TO BRING MY BAT.
Evelyn: I'm fine Ash, Calum just wants to hang out alone with me and I don't know. It feels wrong.
Ash: Why? Luke wouldn't care.
Evelyn: I know but I care.
Ash: Alright where are you guys going? Send me the location.
Evelyn switched to Google Maps and forwarded him the location of the Coles they would be going to.
After that, Ashton stopped responding. Thinking nothing of it, she slips her phone in her pocket and prepares herself to hang out with Calum.
She wanted to slap herself for even being nervous- they had been friends forever.
Why was she uneasy to hang out w him?
Evelyn made her way back down to where Calum was already standing, aimlessly scrolling through his phone. With a deep breath, she walked to him, standing in front of him with a smile.
She adjusted her phone as he guided her out with a hand on her back. Evelyn swallowed and ducked her head, leaving her house and locking it behind her.
Ashton really left me on read like a little bitch.
Payback for that. I'll tell Hailey to ignore his ass.
She got in her side as he got into his.
While she periodically got into his car for when he drives Michael and her to school, it had been absolutely forever since she had actually been alone with him.
The car ride in the hummer was a very quiet one. Not a comfortable silence, either. She fidgeted with her fingers as Calum hummed some song under his breath.
Finally, she cleared her throat, "How is the band going?"
He glanced at her for a moment before making a turn with the car, "Pretty good, we reached about 5 thousand subscribers and we got a few gigs coming up."
