"Come on! We're graduating next week! We should all celebrate together."
Evelyn rolled her eyes, crossing her arms and planting herself on the floor. The carpet burned into the back of her short-clad legs.
She just couldn't be bothered.
There was no reason for her to do anything other than sleep and wake up, sleep and wake up.
The whole vibe.
No need to go out, especially the week before graduation.
Kate yanked her arm, pulling the girl up from the floor. Her body clashed into his, her pajamas clutched her body.
"I don't want to!"
"Don't be a baby," Kate rolled his eyes. He turned to the door, dragging her.
Evelyn shimmied out of his grip, "I refuse."
"Evelyn Clifford."
"It's already dark outside!"
"I'll call Hailey," And with that her body went slack, resistant non existent.
Hailey is scary.
"Fine," She groaned. Evelyn stood up, reaching into her closet and picking up some swim suit. Her hands landed on a black bikini, more coverage which she was glad for.
And then she remembered.
The pool was at Luke's house, which took her back to so many memories that she wished she could just forget.
It was night time when Evelyn and Kate arrived at Luke's.
Calum's car was already there, Ashton's as well. She figured Hailey was already there, having come with him.
They made it to the front door, knocking on it once.
It wasn't Luke who opened the door but Jack, pulling it open.
"Oh hey Luke's ex. Hey Luke's ex's friend."
Evelyn rolled my eyes, "Charming."
With that, she slipped past him, ignoring the comment and making it down into the pool area.
It was cold immediately. She rubbed her hands together for warmth, as the dark cold night beckoned her to start shivering.
She inhaled and exhaled deeply, a heavy clouds of mist form as my warm breath meets the cold air.
Why did they decide today to go to the pool.
Evelyn could taste the coldness in her mouth, teeth chattering to warm up.
Maybe I should have worn something more than a shirt and shorts.
She was right. Ashton and Hailey were playfighting in the water, Calum sitting on the edge and Luke nowhere to be found.
When he saw her, Calum perked up. He stood up and made his way to Evelyn.
"Hey," He ran a hand through his hair. Evelyn dropped her eyes to the floor.
"I just wanted to apologize to you in person, for everything," Calum stepped to the girl. She nodded, smiling softly.
"Everything is good between us," She made an effort of sounding genuine.
This year was ending anyways, might as well just let by gones be by gones.
He reached over and hugged her lightly, embracing the girl he'd been friends with for too long.
Finally they pulled away, turning to the pool and back to the intended activity.
Evelyn sat down on one of the seats, her hands falling between her knees in a tired collapse. Maybe swimming would wake her up.
