Calum was surprised to get Luke's call. He stared at the screen for a moment, trying to decide if it was actually real or not.
Wouldn't any other person in that situation?
He raised the phone to his ear, "Hello?"
"Let's meet in person at Eve's," Luke's voice filled Calum's ears, not bothering with any greetings of any kind. The firm tone gave no emotion away, just a straight-to-the-point statement.
Calum swallowed as Luke hung up the phone and didn't leave a chance for Calum to speak. He was sure there was a possibility that Luke only wanted to see him to get another hit in.
But he wouldn't likely do it at Eve's.
Ashton gave Luke a look.
Luke ignored the glaring eyes of his friend. When he couldn't any longer, he turned over to Ashton as they got up from the soft couch, "I want him to apologize to Eve as well."
Ashton formed an ah with his mouth, not completely believing, before leaving his house and getting in the car with Luke.
Though Ashton would rather Luke not be driving in the angry state that he is in, he did not dare say anything.
Don't poke the bear.
Eve had no clue what to say when Ashton and Luke showed up at her house. Her eyes were wide, hiding in her oversized crewneck as she tried to pull it down a little more over her exposed legs.
Luke bit his lip, scanning over her body before shaking himself out of his thoughts and stepping a foot into the house, his hand pushing the door open.
They barged past her like it was no big deal, turning to sit on the couch and wait. She stared as Ashton apologetically smiled, as if there was more to come.
Perhaps they should have warned her, or given some sort of heads up.
But she was at an even bigger loss for words when Calum showed up. Her jaw was slightly dropped, her eyes wide as she tried to get control of the situation.
"Uh," She craned her neck to look over at Luke, "Is there a secret society meeting I wasn't aware of?"
Ashton laughed, while Luke pressed his lips together to hold his in. It was not meant to be funny. It was meant to be serious.
Serious.
He felt a strong urge to keep her gaze on him when Luke noticed her eyes on Calum, but pinched himself. That is the exact opposite of why they were there.
Luke stood up and faced Calum. He said nothing, nervous in his place and shifting on one foot, then the other. He wasn't quite sure what to say, and his taller friend's glaring blue eyes didn't help.
Luke found himself already antsy, standing up next to the shorter girl and crossing his arms, waiting to see how Calum would react.
"You know what I want to hear from you," Luke's irritated voice snapped at Calum. His brown eyes were soft, contrasting with Luke's piercing ones.
Evelyn looked over at him, gently placing a hand in concern on the side of his arm, "What's going on?"
Luke almost forgot where he was when he looked over at her. She was beautiful in a way that couldn't be described in words. In a way that Van Gogh would not be able to capture. In a way that no artist would be able to capture. Her hazel eyes were soft, little speckles of dark brown and light yellow. Her upturned lips looked as though she could never hold a frown in her life.
