"Be safe you two!" Kate called out after the pair.

Evelyn shifted her duffle bag excitedly on her shoulder. She almost burst out of her shoes. Finally, they were on their way to the national competition.

Finally.

They got in the back of the mini- shuttle bus, their coach in the front with the driver.

"You got all your clothes, equipment, everything?" Coach Tina called out loudly, as if still in a field. She never knew how to tone her voice.

Luke and Evelyn nodded, shoving their things aside and settling in for the ride to the airport.

And though she resisted it, she couldn't help her eyes beginning to fall shut slowly. Her head lulled onto Luke's shoulder as she fell asleep.

——

Getting out of the small shuttle bus, Evelyn gathered her things to get off. She struggled with her three different bags, attempting to fix them on her shoulders.

Luke wordlessly took the heaviest one from her grasp, allowing her to readjust the two smaller ones. She looked at him gratefully, her eyes full of a soft gaze that he could only be read as love.

They made their way to the counters, handing their passports to the attendant at the front. Coach Tina began to talk with the lady as they placed their bags on the conveyor belt.

As the bags were being weighed, she though about how incredible the field would be. How large the arena would be.

"Are you excited?" Luke's low voice brought a shiver down her spine as she nodded, her eyes square on his lips. In that moment, all she wanted to do was kiss him, right then and there.

Legs over his shoulders, the feeling of him all the way inside of her with his neck strained in pleasure. All she could think about was his head thrown back, remembering a soft moan elicited from his throat.

Her mind was hazy, drowsy at the thought of Luke doing whatever he wanted to her. She swallowed, pulling her lip in for a moment. Just a quick second, but Luke caught it.

When she didn't respond to his question, he cocked an eyebrow. His voice came out as a slow drawl, dripping with tension, "What are you thinking about?"

He was calm, but she knew under that exterior, he was brewing. Something under his skin, like he knew exactly what was on her mind.

He left out a little hum of surprise, an eyebrow raised in amusement as he let the question slip from her grasp. She avoided his eyes, looking down and away from him.

Luke didn't need her to answer.

He already knew.

They passed the front desk, moving towards security. Their coach somehow ended up slightly ahead of them, what with her fast and demanding demeanor, but they waved her away with a little laugh.

You can take the coach out of the competition but you can never take the competition out of the coach.

"I'll be in a first class seat because I earned it," Coach Tina whooped, waving her hand with a little smile, "I'll see you guys at the gate."

Evelyn began to take off watch, jewelry, jackets. She placed everything in the tray and took out all of her electronics. It was a tiring, annoying thing to do, really.

Then, she kneeled down to take off her shoes. That's where the problems all start.

With a soft glance barely moving her head, she turned up to look at Luke, her knee planted in the ground.
