We were able to get ahold of Taylor, we set up a time for her to come over tonight to talk. She said she had to bring her son with her because she can't leave him alone. Which i totally understood. I'm just a little nervous about seeing the boy. What if he gets here and looks just like Tadley and he decides he would rather be with her and him than with Cade and me?I know that's completely irrational to think, because Tadley is an amazing father and husband, i know he loves us. But it's my insecurities talking, we all know they can be a bitch and make us believe things that aren't in the slightest bit true. I got started on dinner since i said that we could have dinner and then talk.. just because this woman could quite possibly ruin my life doesn't mean i will forget my manners.
"Babe, are you sure about this? I don't want this woman in our home.... I only knew her for a weekend and we were drunk half the time anyways!" Tadley argued. I understand his worries and his annoyance, but we need to learn to be civil with each other, she could be here for the rest of our lives.
"Yes, i'm sure about this. We need to find out what she wants. As much as you don't like it, hell, as much as i don't like it.... she could be here for a while. We need to make the best of the shit hand we're holding." I insisted.
"You're too good, you know that right?" He came up and wrapped his arm around me from behind as i cooked, he had Cade in his arms so it was a half hearted embrace.
"No, i was just raised to treat others with respect. She could be the mother of your child, and if that's the case she's going to be in our lives from now on... I'd rather we be able to be civil to each other than completely hate each other and the child suffer." I told him. It's true, our feelings don't matter, that baby's does. We need to do everything we can to make him comfortable and make sure he knows that he's welcome if he is Tadley's child.
Before he could say anything the door bell went off, he gave me a look and then walked off to go answer it, with our son in his arms. I finished cooking the food and was getting everything ready when they all walked into the kitchen.
"Dinner is ready.... I hope Brushcetta chicken, Asparagus, and Potatoes are okay..." I said awkwardly as i turned around to face Taylor.
"That's fine, thank you.. This is Joey.... Joey this is Mr. and Mrs. Matthews..." She introduced us to the cutest little boy.
"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Matthews!" He smiled cheerfully.
"Hello." Despite the situation i couldn't help but smile back, he is a very cute kid, and he's so sweet. "I'll get these plated up and meet you guys in the dining room. Babe, put Cade in his high chair, i'll feed him when i get in there."
Tadley nodded and gave me a kiss and then lead Taylor and Joey into the dining room while i plated the food. I carried the plates and some wine into the dining area, and then grabbed Joey some juice, and Cade some baby food.
"It looks lovely, thank you." Taylor complimented.
"No problem." I nodded, this is the most awkward situation ever.
"Thank you for the juice and food, Mrs. Matthews! It looks yummy!" Joey exclaimed excitedly.
"You're welcome, sweetie." I sat down and started feeding Cade his baby food while everyone else started eating.
"So when are we going to discuss what you invited me over for?" Taylor questioned in the middle of dinner.
"After dinner." I stated a little more firmly then i intended to, but this is a conversation that does not need to be had in front of a five year old. We made small talk as we ate, and once we finished i cleared the table and smiled at Joey.
