---NARRATOR---

The dinner table was quiet except for the scraping of utensils most of the sound was coming from Xander though since Emily was too freaked out to eat, that she was just nibbling at her bread, barely touching her plate because she was too afraid to make a noise.

"Bakit ba kasi kami iniwan ni Ms. Gina, pano nalang kung galit sakin itong tatay ni Alex dahil as his daughter-in-law ngayon palang kami nagka-kilala? Pano kung ayaw nya sakin? Pano kung na-offend ko sya? Oh my god. Pano kung hindi nya gusto yung luto ko? I can't even taste anything anymore. Juicecolored! Bakit ba kasi nandito sya?"

Emily's head was swimming with questions. She wants the dinner to end but Xander seemed to be enjoying and savouring the food so much that it feels like it's not going to end soon.

"This is good. Did you make this from scratch?" Xander asked Emily as he took a bite of the garlic bread and Emily just nodded in response.

"This is actually the first time I've ever been in here. Seems very clean. I bet Alex does all the cleaning?" Xander asked again as he looked around the dining room.

"O-opo." She answered.

Xander tried to make conversation but Emily was so nervous all she could say was yes or no and her nervousness was causing her to shake a little that her fork to fell to the floor.

"Ohmygod. Sorry po!" She hurriedly picked up the fallen utensil, quickly washed it in the sink, grabbed a new one and sat back down all under a minute.

Xander couldn't help but laugh a little and Emily instinctively apologized again.

"Emily, relax. This is your home, I'm the visitor I should be the one who's nervous."

"S-sorry po."

"And please stop apologizing, I should be the one apologizing anyway. I know this is awkward for you and I'm the one occupying your personal space. I just wanted to meet you even though my son doesn't think it's necessary."

"Pasensya na po. Pinlano naman po naming i-meet kayo, kaso... yung... schedule nyong dalawa hindi daw po magka-tagpo." She said trying to make up an excuse.

"Emily please, you don't have to lie for Alex. I've tried to meet up with the two of you but my son just doesn't seem to want to make it happen."

"I... I didn't know that."

"That's okay, Alex and I have a peculiar relationship. I haven't seen him in over a year and every time I ask to meet with him, he refuses so don't worry I'm not holding anything against you. Sabi ni Dad gusto mo daw akong i-invite sa wedding but Alex refused. I'm grateful for that." Emily didn't say anything, she knows they were never close but she didn't think it would be to this extent. She doesn't get a long with her family but she still makes a point of meeting with them and making sure they're okay.

Emily looked at Xander, his eyes were soft, his smile inviting and his overall demeanor seems welcoming. She can tell that he's here to get know her and to possibly meet with Alex and that's why he came unannounced. Emily started to relax, this is his father-in-law and despite the fact that he's related to Alex's aunts and uncles, she's heard enough story from Ms. Gina and Anthony to know that Xander was a nice man who just happens to have a rocky relationship with his own son.

Xander started asking her questions about her family, her life, being married to Alex and about Alex in general and this time she didn't answer with a yes or no. They we're starting to have a conversation, she was relaxed enough that she can finally taste her dinner as well.

They were laughing at a story Xander shared about Alex's childhood when Emily received a message from Alex.

"Nandito na daw po sya in a few minutes. I didn't even know he was on his way home."
