"MY GIRLS!" Atlas exclaimed upon seeing us. "Oh, wow! You both look stunning!"
"Of course! Papatalo pa ba kami? Right, baks?" Gael looked at me, waiting for my reply.
I just nodded and shrugged at her.
"Anyhow, na-miss ko 'to! Let's enjoy this night, okay!" Gael said, bago kami sumakay sa sasakyan ni Atlas.
Gael made me take two tequila shots before Atlas picked us up, kaya naman medyo nagsisimula nang uminit ang katawan ko.
Mukhang okay na sina Atlas and Gael, dahil noong nakaraan lang para silang aso't pusa kung mag-away na naman.
Peronakaka-miss makasama mga kaibigan ko.
Mayamaya lang at nakarating na kami sa bar kung saan ginaganap 'yong welcome party. Dinig na dinig ko na agad ang ingay na nanggagaling sa loob. Bumilis agad ang tibok ng puso ko. Hindi ko alam kung dahil ba sa kaba o dahil ba sa excitement na nararamdaman ko.
"Ready, girls?" Atlas asked.
Gael and I both nodded at him before getting off the car.
We got inside and were welcomed by loud music. Atlas led us upstairs where the VIP lounge was. Mas tahimik at kaunti ang tao dito kumpara sa ibaba.
"Okay ka lang, baks? You want another shot?"
Sinamaan ko siya ng tingin, alam na alam niyang ayaw ko ng tequila, pero pinilit pa rin niya ako kanina. Para daw hindi ako masyadong kabahan and I'd feel relaxed. Eh, paano ako makakapag-relax kung nahihilo agad ako hindi pa nagsisimula ang party.
"Thanks to you, hindi pa nagsisimula ang party, nahihilo na ako," sagot ko.
Tinawanan lang niya ako. "Sorry but you need it kasi, baks, masyado kang stiff at gusto kong ma-enjoy mo tonight. And please don't worry about Tita Lily. I told her that you'd stay with me at ako ang bahala sa 'yo tonight."
I smiled at her. "Okay," I just said.
Nag-uusap lang kami ni Gael when we saw Atlas walking towards us with someone.
"Cara, Gael, this is my cousin Arlo," Atlas said, introducing his cousin to us. "This welcome party is for him. He just came back from Canada."
He looked vaguely familiar, and I was trying to recall where or when I last saw him.
He offered his hand, smiling.
"Uy! Same pala kayo ni Cara na kagagaling lang ng Canada." Gael shook his hand first, "Nice meeting you, Arlo. I'm Gael."
"Hi, Gael. Nice to meet you," Arlo said to Gael.
And when it was my turn, I held his hand and shook it as well, and that was when it hit me.
"You're... you're the guy at the Empire!" I beamed. Nahiya ako bigla dahil medyo napalakas 'yong boses ko!
He chuckled, and I swear I almost stopped breathing. "Yes, I remember you. It's nice seeing you again, Cara," he said, smiling. "And welcome back to the Philippines."
