" yes mother i am aware of the ball. No i do not have a date. No i dont want you to set me up with someone.... no no no mom! No! Ill find a date ill find a date!"

James swiftly got off the phone and hung up.

He was spending a week at remus' house for Thanksgiving with Sirius and he used the muggle phone at his house.

Sirius and James were there because James' parents were on a trip to France to visit some family.

" was that Mom?" Sirius asked.

James looked at him strange and pushed his head away.

" its weird that you call my mom mom. But yes. That was her. She wants to know if we have dates to that Purebloods Ball thingy in a few weeks." James said, staring at his book again.

" are you even reading that?" Remus asked from the floor.

James shrugged and sighed loudly.

" so what are you going to do?"

" ask lily of course."

" Prongs she hasnt said yes to you in 4 years, what makes you think she will say yes to this?" Remus commented.

" well i dont know Moony, i have to stay positive dont i?"

" just ask a friend to go with you. Come on its 7th year, there are plenty of girls who would wanna go to this ball with you!" Sirius pat james' shoulders.

" thats true. Girls DROOL over you Prongs. Come on its not that hard." Remus said tapping his quill on his notebook.

" so........ Padfoot who are you bringing?" James asked, trying to change the subject.

Sirius sighed and hummed.

" hmmmm. Moony? Wanna go with me?" Sirius turned to remus.

" hmmm ill get back to you on that." He said as he flipped the page of a book.

Sirius clicked his tongue and threw a pillow at him which he dodged easily.

" seriously man, lily is not gonna say yes."

" i know. Tsk who do i ask then?"  James sighed and thought about it.

It would be better if he could bring a pureblood, or at least half blood to this convention thing.

Molly? Arthur would kill him. Marlene? Nah shes like a sister to him. Dorcas? Lily's roommate, too awkward.

" ugh. There really is nobody." James exasperated.

Sirius got off the couch and sat down next to james, poking his arm.

" hey james? Ever think it doesnt have to be a girl?" Sirius said while poking him.

James swatted his hand away and waved at him.

" bringing a guy? Isnt that a little weird?"

" come on! Im bringing Moony."

" yeah but as a friend."

" ok but you can just bring someone as a friend too."  Remus chimed in.

James thought about it and nodded.

" ok. Then who?"

" peter?" Sirius suggested.

" peter? Seriously padfoot?"

" jeez fine. Frank."

" nah thats weird."

" arthur?"
