Can't Help It ; Natsu

3 - Rocks

Eyes began to change; a prickling sensation brushed your fingertips. 

Someone else was taking over your body. 

The tall, broad giant turns with a glare, it's eyes focused. It picks up a rock, slowly, and throws it; although it's aim is off, it lands only a few feet away from your foot. 

His expression twists.

She's here. 

Purple dyed the surroundings, glowing and lighting it up. Your eyes become sharper, your senses are tuned. The monster seemed to be laughing. 

Sweat starts to bead on your forehead, and you clench your fist tighter. 

She's getting hard to contain. 

'Man...it's only been a few minutes.'

Upon seizing it's chance, the giant picks up another rock and throws it at you with little effort. It roared as the small stone just hit your side.

Crumpling to the ground, you could only stare in pain. It seemed to be laughing even harder, now. It rumbled and sounded like an earthquake. 

You shiver from a sudden cold breeze, goosebumps rise upon your arms. Slipping on the cloak, you become the unseen, and attempt to crawl away. 

Your legs crawled over the hard pebbles on the ground, apparently creating sound. The rock monster grasps your neck after patting around. 

Oxygen was cut, and tears started to prick. Your throat hurt from the pressure, and was already turning red. 

"Hey." 

Natsu helped himself up, frowning at the huge monster before him. "I swear, you weren't here before." He mutters, before throwing a smile on. 

"Well? Come at me!"

After twenty or so minutes, you entered the Guild Hall. "Natsu!" Lucy runs up to you both. Her eyes narrowed slightly when she sees you two.

You lingered by Natsu's side, as he ran to his team mate. 

"Lucy!" He greeted her with an energetic smile. Natsu looked at her with such warmth and happiness, people would surely doubt their friendship. 

You smile weakly, and walk away from the two happy people who were chatting up a storm. You spot Gray, and immediately approach him.

An evil smile curls into your lips. You lean forward, close to his ear, careful that he wouldn't notice.

"Hey."

He jumps a little, eyeing you warily. "You scared me, don't do that!" He yells, startling you. You laugh a little, "okay. I won't. Sorry?"

You watch him turn back to study the Job Board. "Do you wanna take a job with me? I could use the money." Gray says, scratching his head.

It really wasn't a question that needed an answer. 

You could either skip out on din din tonight and go home to your apartment, with the due date for rent arriving quickly.

Or...

Go on a job with Gray, make money, pay rent, eat dinner, and not get lectured by Plume.

The 2nd option seemed like the best one. You slap his back. "We're down!"

"We..?" He asks, raising his eyebrow in question, after re-balancing from the force. You gesture towards Plume, who had her arms crossed. 

"We're a team." You hug Plume, while she affectionately nuzzles you.

You knew you had sort of abandoned Plume the past few days because you were busy with Fairy Tail and Natsu, but you were determined to make it up to her.

He sighs, but kindly says, "do whatever you want." You smile secretly. Was Gray a tsundere? "Here." He shows you two a job offer.

"...Bounty?" Plume asks, her eyes widen. "We're hunting people?!" She asks, panicky. "They're bad people!" Gray rushed to exclaim.

"Oh. Good." Plume settles down again on your shoulder, swinging her tiny feet back and forth. "When do we start?" You ask, grinning.

A hype of excitement coursed through your body. You definitely wouldn't fail this job. Hunting down some bad people..how hard could it be?

"Right now. We start now."

"Like...right now?"
