(y/n)'s pov

School's been meh. I haven't really talked to a lot of people this week besides Emma. It's been a little boring, and I was currently hanging out with her as we speak.

But that was until I received one particular text from Ray, my boyfriend.

It said:

The new cafe opened up.

Wanna check it out together?

Ray's been flaking out quite a bit recently, so I'm pretty excited to go here with him.

I walked over to Emma. "Hey, look at this."

She peered over my shoulder, looking away from her own phone.

"Woah Ray asked you out to that new restaurant?" she replied. "Say yes!"

"But what if I do something wrong?" I asked, worried. Emma shook her head.

"(y/n), you're fine," she reassured. "And come on, it might be fun! After the cafe, you might get clothes, watch a movie, or even go to Ikea!

"Fine, but only because you said I should, and because I don't wanna waste twenty minutes debating whether I should or shouldn't in my head," I agreed. I quickly sent my reply and we watched as Ray texted back the location and what time. It was currently 9 am, so I had more than enough time to get ready.

"Yes!" Emma exclaimed. She started helping me choose clothes. I wanted to wear something comfortable, while she wanted something flashy.

We agreed on a purple jacket, some black leggings, and matching ankle boots.

"Alright (y/n), you go have fun," Emma said as I was walking out the door. "And tell me what happened afterward!"

I waved and went to my cab. I greeted the driver and he inputted the location on the GPS.

"You've got a date, miss?" he asked after a few minutes of silence. I looked up from my phone.

"Y-yeah, something like that," I answered. I saw him smile from the rearview mirror.

"Ah young love," he started. "Wish I could be sixteen again."

"Thank you," I said while we stopped at the cafe.

We soon arrived at the front of the location. It was a quaint place with lights. I paid and tipped the driver and he drove off.

I entered the place and was hit with the comforting smell of hot chocolate. I looked at my watch and it was 5:20, ten minutes before the designated meeting time.

A lady accompanied me to an empty table with two chairs. I sat there, waiting for the time to tick down. A waitress provided me a menu and I looked through it, trying to see what I could order.

"Hi, are you ready?" she said, coming back. It was now 5:35 and Ray was five minutes late. I assume it was traffic because the holidays have been busy.

"No, not yet, but thank you," I replied. She nodded and walked away. I sighed. I thought about texting him, but I didn't want to seem desperate or a nitpick because he was now fifteen minutes late.

Thirty minutes later

So far, three different waiters appeared ready to take my order. Ray wasn't here yet. Wonder what he's doing right now. I entertained myself by reading some Webtoons and playing some phone games to pass the time.
