Author's pov

Ray and (y/n) have been married for about two years. It was a satisfying result, for, after quite a while, he proposed to her, and she happily accepted.

After their first year of being together, they had a little girl who they named Melody.

"She's so pretty, isn't she?" (y/n) said as she nurtured her child. Ray sat across her, staring lovingly at their firstborn.

"She looks like you," he replied just as quietly. "She'll grow even prettier in the future."

Melody inherited her father's dark raven black hair, and her mother's eyes and smile. She was a perfect combination of the two parents.

(y/n) laughed silently. "May I?" Ray asked, gesturing to hold Melody. (y/n) nodded, and as carefully as she could, placed her in his arms. However, just as he started comforting her, she woke up and started loudly crying. His eyes widened, and it was obvious he had no experience whatsoever, but he could have at least researched before having a child.

"Ray! You woke the baby!" (y/n) whisper-screamed. He started apologizing continuously, completely forgetting that Melody was still in his arms. She started wailing even louder, to the point where (y/n) had to take her back.

"Sorry!" he answered as she sighed. "You're better at this than me."

But, (y/n) did not hear him. She instead was actually busy softly singing to the girl. Ray quieted, not only for Melody but to hear (y/n)'s voice.

Twinkle twinkle little star,

how I wonder what you are

Up above the world so bright,

like a diamond in the night,

Twinkle, twinkle little star,

how I wonder what you are,

Her voice is beautiful, Ray thought as she continued singing nursery rhymes. When Melody finally stopped crying, she placed her in her little cradle. The couple walked out of the room, before heading into the kitchen.

Ray remembered how they met when they were younger. They were childhood friends but lost contact around the end of elementary. But after their first year of high school, (y/n) and he met again in the school library. It wasn't how fairytales described "love at first sight", or "the two main characters met after being separated for so long".

Their story was not really defined by cliche, stereotypical romances, but by the more rational, logic-minded category. The two had a romance that involved pride, strategy, and self-dignity.

It was far from the archetype of romance.

But it was definitely romance nonetheless.

The two silently stood next to each other as she opened the clear cabinet above them. She picked a glass painted with white daisies. It was part of a flower-themed dinner set, a wedding present courtesy of Norman. He gave a lot of well-thought-of presents, such as the rosewood cradle Melody slept in, or the silverware engraved with their names on the forks and spoons.

She then went to the water filter attached to the refrigerator and quietly filled her cup with cold water.

"Your voice," Ray stated, breathless. She glanced up at him, after taking a sip. "It's like an angel."

She smiled gratefully. "I don't really sing that much, but I'm glad you enjoyed it."

"I'm really sorry for waking Melody up," he responded, looking at the ground. "I'm not good with children."

"Yeah, I've seen it with my own two eyes," (y/n) said, laughing. "But she loves you, you know that right?"

"As I love you as well," he murmured as he leaned in to kiss her behind the ear. "You're so perfect. What did I ever do to deserve you?"

(y/n) shrugged. "Come on, we should go back, but I'm you're the one I fell in love with," she said, as they walked together to the room.

" And I'll always be grateful for that," Ray answered.

Again this was requested by @PrincessAlex7.So thank you for supporting.

Also, I'm thinking of creating a new rayxreader story that'll start in normal au and go to modern au. Either that or I'll build an entirely new story from one of my school assignments back in December. It'll be a separate book on my profile and will be called "Black Lily".

So please comment on what you prefer and have an amazing day/night!
