(For some reason, right after I finished a fluffy one-shot, my mind wanted me to write some angst. So here we go.)

It's officially been five years since our breakup. Ray and I dated in high school for a bit. But today, 1,825 days ago, I chose to end it all because I saw Anna kiss him at a cafe one day. I haven't seen my friends ever since that day.
Emma, Norman, Don, Gilda, Anna, Nat, Phil, and Ray. I haven't seen them at all. I guess it's clear to say that I just disappeared from their lives because I just left them and never spoken to them again when I entered college. They probably don't even know what happened, for I just stopped interacting with all of them. I never even told Ray that we were breaking up. I just ignored his messages and phone calls and never visited him since.
Since I woke up, I just laid in my bed watching depressing animes such as Banana Fish or Your Lie in April, and I only came down to eat food and once I finished I would go back upstairs, and continue my pity party.
I sighed, and tears filled my eyes. I quickly wiped them away as well, when I heard a knock on the door.
"Yes?" I prompted. I saw my older sister open the door and stick her head in. She was a year older than me, and also knew what day it was.
"Hi, (y/n). Look I know it's really bad timing, but our monthly business event is today. A masquerade ball to be specific, so you might wanna get ready." she said sympathetically. "Something formal, preferably."
I roll my eyes. Of course. My parent's company, Goldy Pond Corporation, was planning on cooperating with other companies, so they held events every month to negotiate terms of business. The organizations we worked with were different each time, so I always had to socialize with people I never met before.
Why did it have to be today?
I look at the clock. 4:20 p.m. Usually, our events started at 6:00, so I got a little bit of time.
"Fine, hold on. Let me just change," I said, getting out of bed. My sister left and closed the door. I walked to my closet and opened it. A masquerade ball? Hmm...
Time skip
I decided on a floor-length midnight blue velvet evening gown with silver embellishments and diamonds. I then put my hair into a twist, with a matching hair clip. I wore my signature silver necklace with a small, enameled rose, something Ray gave me when we dated. I knew I should throw it away, or give it to someone else, but it was too pretty that I wanted to keep it.
I sighed as I clasped it around my neck. I then chose a purse, and placed my phone, wallet, and other important stuff in there. I then walked downstairs and greeted my family.
"Hi," I said. My mom smile and my younger sister wave frantically at me.
"You look so pretty!" My younger sister, Lily, complimented. I beamed gently at her.
"Hi, sweetie," my father said. He was fixing his tie as my older sister, Delilah, straightened the bow on Lily's hair.
"Well, shall we go?" Oliver, my older sister's boyfriend said. She nodded happily.
"We shall," she replied.
Another time skip to the masquerade ball
"Hm. Not too shabby," I said as I surveyed the venue. Gold decor and chairs, diamond chandeliers, white tablecloths, and a marble dance floor in the center. Very elegant indeed.
