"I'm leaving this town," I say after taking a deep breath. Josh looks at me and laughs.

"You're not serious, are you?" Josh asks.

"I am serious," I say.

"Dude, how did you get your mom to agree?" Grant asks me.

"She doesn't know. I'm running away. I need to get away from this town," I say.

"Running away? Dude! You're 15 and 3 months! You can't survive out there!" Grant says.

"I'll find a way. I have some family that lives close by. Or I'll get a job at like a McDonald's or something," I say.

"Don't you mean Taco Bell," I hear a voice from behind me. A voice I haven't heard in 2 months. Gaege.

"What do you want?" I ask, with my teeth clenched together.

"I heard that you were running away. You can stay. I've already decided to leave. I won't be missing anything. My mom doesn't care about me anyway, I have no friends anymore, and this town means nothing to me. You should stay. You have a family who cares about you. You have friends. You have a life here. I don't," Gaege says. I stare at him. For a second I forget why I'm mad at him. Then I see the flash of his fingernail, and I remember.

"Whatever," I say. I'm not going to talk to him more than I have to. "I'm still leaving. I don't care what you're doing." The next time I turn around, he's gone. Whisked away by the wind. I sigh.

"Are you ok?" Mully asks.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I say and straighten up. "I am still leaving though. I didn't just say that to get him to leave. I want out of this shitty town. I want nothing to do with it anymore."

"Well, just be safe. Call us when you're settled, and if you need any help, anything at all, call us. We'll help you the best we can," Grant says.

"Thank you Grant. I'm going to miss all of you. I'll call as soon as a find a place to live. I hope that we can stay friends," I say and wave to them. I already have my things packed at home. My favorite clothes, my toiletries (because if I left home without telling my mom, the one thing she would want is for me to be sanitary), and my phone and other electronics. I have enough money (I've been saving up for college, but I don't think I'll be going there anytime soon) that I got a train ticket and will have enough money to find a low rent apartment and live there for a month with no work. My mama's at work so I should probably leave before she gets back, and should leave her a note.

 Amor, Eduardo

(Dear Mama,

Don't worry about me, I'm fine. I had to get out of this town. I couldn't take being here anymore, especially after finding out my best friend who hates soulmates, is mine. Also if you're worried that this note isn't enough to convince you I wasn't kidnapped or anything, here is the extra copy of my train ticket. Don't call the police, don't go looking for me. I'm not coming back. I have enough money to live for a while without working, but trust me, I'll find a job right away, I don't want to end up living on the streets. I'll write to you once I get settled. I love you mama.

Love, Eduardo)

I pack my stuff up and get ready to leave. I have a ride to the train station, my older sister is driving me. She doesn't know why I'm going there, and I told her not to tell mom that she was the one who drove me. She could honestly say she doesn't know where I am. Once she drops me off at the train station, I riffle through my wallet and find my train ticket. When I turned 15, my mom gave me an emergency credit card. I won't be using it, but I'll always know I'll have a backup plan if things go wrong. I board my train, and find my seat.

"Is this seat taken?" A voice asks. I turn towards it. I'm about to say yes, when I see who it is. Gaege. Why can't I escape him.

"They're assigned seats. So no," I say and turn back towards the window. Why does he have to be here? Gaege sits down next to me. Far away enough that there could be no possible contact between us. Gaege gets off on the next stop, where as I'm going farther than that. I have to ride the train into the night, so I have a room. As I lay down on the bed, I look up at the ceiling of the train. Maybe I should have said goodbye to Gaege. I'll never see him again. That's good, I think. I don't want to see him again. Soon I drift off to sleep. The train is loud, but it lulls me to sleep quickly.
