Gaege Pov
As I send the last text to Eddie, I knock on the door. Mully gave me the address of Eddie's apartment, and after work today, I was able to find someone to give me a ride. Not to the apartment building, but to the city in general. I stuff my phone into my pocket, and the door flies open.
"Gaege?" Eddie asks.
"What do you think, dumbass," I smile a sad smile at him.
"Gaege!" Eddie cries and grips me into a hug. At first I'm surprised, I didn't expect him to be this happy. I then hug him back, I hear a whimper and then feel wetness on my scarf. He's crying. Then I can't hold it in either. We're standing in the hallway of his apartment building, crying our eyes out.
"I missed you," I whisper.
"I missed you too," Eddie whispers back. We don't let go of each other for at least 10 minutes. When we finally separate, Eddie wipes his eyes and then says, "Do you want to come in?"
"I'd love that," I smile at him. We go inside his apartment and he closes the door. We sit down on the couch after Eddie offers me some coffee. His apartment looks much nicer compared to mine. He doesn't have parts of the drywall missing, and his walls are actually painted. "Your apartment is nice."
"Thanks," Eddie says.
"You know Eds, I'm really sorry," I say as I sip my coffee. It warms me up inside and warms my hands as well.
"I am too. We both said things we shouldn't have," Eddie says.
"If you're wondering, I'd like to take things slow. If we can have a fight that pushes both of us out of a city, I feel like we should just stick to being friends for now," I say.
"I understand," Eddie says.
"I still don't believe in soulmates though," I say and push my sleeve up, revealing my F*CK SOULMATES tattoo.
"I thought so. I didn't think you'd change that much," Eddie laughs.
"I remember seeing you at the McDonald's. You were with a girl," I say.
"I remember that. That was you! I thought it was! Oh that's Gabby, she's 20. She lives a floor below me," Eddie says.
"I remember her not having a color," I say.
"Yeah, her color is actually clear. She has a date today. I'm sure she's there right now," Eddie says and check his phone quickly.
"That's good," I say and drink more of my coffee.
"It's great to see you again. I missed seeing you everyday. Even if you weren't talking to me," Eddie says.
"Me too," I say. We sit and talk for a while more, until I say I have to go back.
"You're not going back tonight. You're sleeping here," Eddie says sternly.
"I don't want to be in the way," I say.
"Trust me, you won't," Eddie smiles at me.
"Thanks Eds," I say.
"You know, you're the only person I let call me that. I hate that nickname," Eddie confesses.
"Really? Why didn't you tell me? I could have stopped calling you that," I say.
"I mean I hate the nickname from anyone else. From you it's fine though," Eddie scratches his head and turns towards the bedroom.
"Oh, I can just sleep on the couch," I say. "I don't even need a blanket. I get hot anyway."
"Nonsense. You'll sleep with me. I get cold so we're a good pair," Eddie says. I think about it for a second and then cave.
"Fine, do you have any pajamas though? I don't want to sleep in jeans," I say.
"Oh, definitely," Eddie says. And the next thing I know, I'm in pajamas, sleeping next to Eddie in his bed. This is definitely not how I imagined this day to go. Eddie fell asleep almost right as his head hit the pillow. I'm laying awake in a bed which isn't mine. It feels weird. I haven't been this close to Eddie for 2 years now. Eddie rolls over and drapes and arm over me.
"Hngh, Gaege," he whimpers.
"It's ok Eddie, I'm here," I whisper and pet his hair. He settles back onto me. It feels weird to have someone snuggling with you. He wasn't kidding, he is cold. I put the blanket on him a little more.
"Gaege," Eddie whimpers again.
"It's ok Eddie," I whisper back to him. He doesn't stop this time.
"Gaege."
"Eddie, it's ok," I whisper again.
"Gaege."
"Eddie-" then I realize what's going on when I feel something against my thigh. Shit! I'm not helping being here. I slip out of the bed and wrap the blanket on him some more. I grab a blanket next to couch and lay down on the couch. I try and get comfortable, but I still can't sleep. Being here feels weird. I don't feel like I belong. I end up getting my phone and scrolling through my Instagram until 1 AM when I fall asleep. I have a dreamless sleep, I know that when I wake up tomorrow, I'm going to have bags under my eyes. I'm sure I can find something here that has the same consistency as concealer.
Ok so this part is done. Might get another one out tonight. I don't know. Luv you guys!
