A/N (PLEASE READ)- This will be the last chapter until the 6th of May, I'm currently being overwhelmed by college work and I'll be finished my first year soon. Once I'm done I will be able to commit my time back to this book. I'm sorry for the two weeks of silence before now but I couldn't even find the time to finish this chap until today. If I do somehow find time to write a chapter between now and the resumption date, I will post it but the resumption date will not be moved up for regular updates. When I do come back, it'll be twice a week, Mondays and Thursdays @4pm GMT+1. Love ya'll loads and I hope you understand that I need to focus on college for the next few weeks xxx

Katie was removed to St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries the following day, by which time the news that she had been cursed had spread all over the school, though the details were confused and nobody other than Harry, Ron, Hermione, Mikayla and Leanne seemed to know that Katie herself had not been the intended target. Katie absence meant that the promising Gryffindor team Harry had been training so carefully since September was one Chaser short. He kept putting off replacing Katie in the hope that she would return, but their opening match against Slytherin was looming and he finally had to accept that she would not be back in time to play.

Mikayla told Harry there was no point on another round of tryouts, she suggested that he should offer the position to Dean Thomas, who she remember showing a lot of promise during the last tryouts. Harry agreed with her, although inviting Ginny's boyfriend to join the team could potentially be problematic, for him, as he felt hot flashes of jealously whenever he saw them together. Mikayla promised Harry that everything with Ginny will work itself out and not to cause problems for the Weasley girl. Harry asked Mikayla to accompany him when they were going to ask him to join the team, which the blonde agreed to do. They cornered Dean after Transfiguration one day, most of the class had already left, although several twittering yellow birds were still zooming around the room, all of Hermione's creation; nobody else had succeeded in conjuring so much as a feather from thin air.

"Hey Dean, can we talk to you for a second?" Mikayla asked him politely to which Dean nodded.
"Are you still interested in playing Chaser?" Harry cut right to the chase, "What? Yeah, of course!" responded Dean excitedly. Over Dean's shoulder Mikayla saw Seamus Finnigan slamming his books into his bag, looking sour, she couldn't help but feel bad for choosing Dean over him. One of the reasons why Harry would have preferred not to have to ask Dean to play was that he knew Seamus would not like it. On the other hand, he had to do what was best for the team, and Dean had out-flown Seamus at the tryouts. "Well then, you're in," Harry informed Dean, who smiled widely. Mikayla informed Dean that there was practice tonight at seven o'clock. "Cheers, Harry! Blimey, I can't wait to tell Ginny!" Dean sprinted out of the room, leaving Harry, Mikayla and Seamus together, an uncomfortable moment made no easier when a bird dropping landed on Seamus's head as one of Hermione's canaries whizzed over them.

Seamus was not the only person disgruntled by the choice of Katie's substitute. There was much muttering in the common room about the fact that Harry and Mikayla didn't care about skill, but if you were their friend or not. Only two people on the team didn't know them directly, two were their best friends, one was their friend, roommate and dating one of their other Chasers. As they had endured much worse mutterings than this in their school careers, Mikayla and Harry weren't particularly bothered, but all the same, the pressure was increasing to provide a win in the upcoming match against Slytherin.

If Gryffindor won, they knew that the whole house would forget that they had criticised them and swear that they had always known it was a great team. Harry had no reason to regret his choice to listen to his Co-Captain, once he saw Dean fly that evening; he worked well with Ginny and Mikayla. The Beaters, Peakes and Coote, were getting better all the time. The only problem was Ron. They had known all along that Ron was an inconsistent player who suffered from nerves and a lack of confidence, and unfortunately, the looming prospect of the opening game of the season seemed to have brought out all his old insecurities. After letting in half a dozen goals, most of them scored by Ginny, his technique became wilder and wilder, until he finally punched an oncoming Mikayla in the mouth.
