All lessons were suspended immediately, all examinations postponed for an undisclosed time, luckily all NEWTs and OWLs were finished, although Marshbanks had made it clear that Mikayla would still have to take her Divination practical after Dumbledore's funeral. Some students were rushed out of Hogwarts the following day, the Patil twins were gone before breakfast once their parents learnt Parvati's true intentions of fighting. Mikayla made a plan to visit once she leaves Hogwarts, she already told Fred her plans, after revealing Parvati's diminishing mental health and he agreed to escort her.
Zacharias Smith was escorted from the castle by his haughty-looking father, Mikayla unfortunately crossed his path in the Entrance Hall and got an earful about putting his son in danger. Mikayla tried to explain that Zacharias wasn't even in the castle when the Death Eaters arrived but Mr Smith just dismissed her valid argument. Mikayla looked at Zacharias with pity, she got a bad feeling about Mr Smith and wanted to offer Zacharias an out but couldn't in front of his father, "be safe, Zacharias." The Hufflepuff nodded, and told Mikayla to do the same before he was dragged out through the oak doors by his father.
Seamus Finnigan, on the other hand, refused point-blank to accompany his mother home, which resulted in them having a shouting match in the middle of the Entrance Hall. The fight was resolved when Mrs Finnigan agreed that Seamus could stay at Hogwarts until after the funeral. However Mikayla had to pull some strings with Candy, Rosmerta's temporary replacement, at the Three Broomsticks to get Mrs Finnigan a room as many around Hogsmeade were filling up. Many wizards and witches were pouring into the village, preparing to pay their last respects to Dumbledore. The Hogwarts Express was due to leave Hogsmeade Station two hours after Dumbledore's funeral.
There was some excitement for the younger years, who weren't attending Hogwarts when the Triwizard Tournament was taking place, when a powder-blue carriage the size of a house, pulled by a dozen giant winged palominos, came soaring out of the sky in the late afternoon before the funeral and landed on the edge of the Forest. Mikayla had seen them arrive through her dormitory windows as she gathered an outfit for the funeral. At first, she didn't want to wear all black to Dumbledore's funeral, she was not mourning the loss of his life, more grieving her own past that was constructed by the old man.
But after a long talk with Ron, he convinced her that as much as he hates Dumbledore for how he treated her, they still had to keep up the facade that they would miss him and that he'd be a great loss to the world. After all, there was going to be magical beings from every corner of the world, unfortunately including the Ministry, coming to say their goodbyes to Dumbledore and they would know something fishy is going on if some of Dumbledore's golden students were acting like they were greatly saddened by his death.
After her shower, Mikayla did her usual natural makeup look, magically dried her hair and just ran a brush through it, not being bothered to style it. She wore a black button up shirt which was tucked into her black high-waisted trousers with oversized bow detail around her waist and a pair of chunky black platform sandals.
