Breakfast was the usual excitable affair next morning; the Slytherins hissed and booed loudly as every member of the Gryffindor team entered the Great Hall. Harry glanced at the ceiling and saw a clear, pale blue sky: a good omen. The Gryffindor table, a solid mass of red and gold, cheered as Mikayla, Harry and Ron approached. Harry grinned and waved; Ron grimaced weakly and shook his head, whilst Mikayla settled on a small grateful smile. "Cheer up, Ron! I know you'll be brilliant!" Lavendar Brown yells at the redhead, Ron ignored her attempts to give him a vote of confidence.
"Tea? Coffee? Pumpkin juice?" Harry asked Ron, Mikayla eyes him wearingly, she knew Harry was up to something. "Anything" Ron grumbled as he moodily takes a bite of the toast Mikayla buttered for him. A few minutes later Hermione joined them, she's been avoiding Ron since he's mood has dropped coming closer to the match. "How are you all feeling?" she asked tentatively, her eyes on the back of Ron's head. "Alright." Mikayla answered weakly, biting her own french toast. "Fine," Harry responded distractedly, Harry was concentrating on handing Ron a glass of pumpkin juice. "There you go, Ron. Drink up." Luna joined the group cheerfully as she greets everyone.
Luna looks at Ron commenting that he looks dreadful as he paused raising the cup to his lips. "Is that why you put something in his cup? Is it a tonic?" Luna asked mostly Harry making Mikayla's eyes to widen, "Liquid Luck!" She gasped in disbelief by Harry's illegal measures. "Don't drink it Ron!" Hermione scolded him, but Ron ignored her and downed the drink. Mikayla watched as a goofy smile grew on Ron's lips. Hermione looked scandalised. Bending low so that only Harry could hear her she hissed, "you could be expelled for that." Harry played dumb but Mikayla could see Ron's immediate cheerful energy. Ron got to his feet, "come on guys! We've got a game to win." Ron beamed brightly.
Mikayla went against her better judgement and didn't fight his new enthusiasm and pretended she didn't know that he's drank Liquid Luck. The frosty grass crunched underfoot as they strode down to the stadium. "Pretty lucky the weather's this good, eh?" Harry asked them, Mikayla rolled her eyes at his remark and agreed, "perfect conditions." She responded smirking, "yeah, Slytherin won't know what hit them." Ron smiled widely, Ginny and Dean were already wearing their Quidditch robes and waiting in the changing room. "Conditions look ideal," Ginny commented, ignoring Ron's existance, she's still fuming at him for what happened yesterday.
"And guess what? That Slytherin Chaser Vaisey, he took a Bludger in the head yesterday during their practice, and he's too sore to play! And even better than that. Malfoy's gone off sick too!" Dean informs them. "What?" said Harry, wheeling round to stare at him, "he's ill? What's wrong with him?" Harry looked at Mikayla as if she held all answers, which she held most but it's not like she can say anything about it. "No idea, but it's great for us," Ginny chimed brightly smiling at Mikayla, "they're playing Harper instead; he's in my year and he's an idiot."
Mikayla smiled vaguely back, but as she pulled on his scarlet robes her mind was far from Quidditch. Malfoy had once before claimed he could not play due to injury, but on that occasion he had made sure the whole match was rescheduled for a time that suited the Slytherins better. Is he planning to restore the vanishing cabinet in the Room of Requirement? Once Mikayla got dressed, she slipped out of the tent when she saw Harry was distracted whispering to Ron.
She made her way to the teachers stands, immediately approaching Snape who was looking as glum as usual. "I know what he's doing. You need to follow him because I've been forbidden to tell anyone of my predictions." Snape looked down at Mikayla with a small frown on his face, "you've ever been one to follow the rules, Miss Black. Why start now?" Mikayla sighed gruffily, ensuring no one was listening to their conversation by suitably scanning their surroundings. "An Unbreakable Vow I made before I went away is as good of a reason as any." Snape's eyes widen in shock, quickly composing himself to give Mikayla a stiff nod.
