The Montgomery Sisters

"Sorry for my temper, I'm really stressed and frustrated right now and haven't had a chance to transpire that extra negative energy, and I just needed to let some of it out." Mikayla apologised after five minutes of awkward silence between the friends. "We're sorry too." Hermione apologies offering Mikayla a sad smile, "yeah, you shouldn't've to explain your reasons as to why you need to be there for Hagrid, and we shouldn't've made you feel as though you had to defend your decision." Ron clarifies why they're sorry while he pulls Mikayla into a hug, which made her sigh in relief that they weren't mad at her.

"Look, Potions will be almost empty this afternoon, with us all off doing our tests, why don't you try and soften Slughorn up a bit then!" Hermione suggested to Harry, moving on from apologises and Hagrid's request. "Fifty-seventh time lucky, you think?" Harry chimed rather bitterly. "Lucky," Ron parroted suddenly getting to his feet, "Harry, that's it- get lucky!" Ron grabbed Harry's collar to emphasise his words. "How does Harry having sex have anything to do with softening Slughorn?" Mikayla asked looking up from her work before her face contorted in disgust.

"Ew, Merlin no! Ron, Harry isn't going to sleep with Slughorn! Merlin, why would you even put that mental image into our heads." Mikayla, Hermione and Harry all shiver in disgust. "No! I meant he should use his lucky potion!" Ron cleared up instantly, and they all looked at him, "Ron! That's- that's it!" Hermione proclaimed sounding completely stunned. "Of course! Why didn't I think of it? Why did you immediately think Ron wanted Harry to seduce a teacher?" Hermione turns to stare at Mikayla, "I thought Ron might've confused Slughorn's favouritism for attraction." She explained herself whilst shrugging.

"Felix Felicis? I dunno... I was sort of saving it..." Harry trailed off after finally catching up to speed about what they were all talking about. "What for?" Ron demanded incredulously since Harry has yet to voice what he planned on doing with it. "What on earth is more important than this memory, Harry?" Hermione asked, but Harry did not answer. His eyes seemed to glaze over and his expression shifted into one of hope and affection. Mikayla, Hermione and Ron share a confused expression as to what Harry could possibly be thinking of right now.

After a few beats of silence, Mikayla nudges Harry's shoulder while Hermione asked him if he was still with them, which brought Harry out of the sea of his thoughts. "Well... okay. If I can't get Slughorn to talk this afternoon, I'll take some Felix and have another go this evening." Harry agreed to the plan that Ron inspired, "that's decided, then," Hermione claps her hands in victory before getting to her feet and performing a graceful pirouette. "Destination... determination... deliberation..." she murmured to mostly herself, "oh, stop that," Ron begged whilst pulling a face, "I feel sick enough as it is- quick, hide me!"

"It isn't Lavender!" Hermione said impatiently, as another couple of girls appeared in the courtyard and Ron dived behind her. "Cool," Ron mumbled as he peers over Hermione's shoulder to check. "Blimey, they don't look happy, do they?" Mikayla and Harry follow his gaze to see two rather solemn looking girls. It was Cora and Evangeline Montgomery, Cora is a fourth year Ravenclaw and Evangeline is a first year Ravenclaw. "They're the Montgomery sisters and of course they don't look happy, didn't you hear what happened to their little brother?" Hermione quires as they look away from the pair so it didn't seem as though they were staring at them.

"I'm losing track of what's happening to everyone's relatives, to be honest," Ron said rather grimly. "Well, their brother was attacked by a werewolf. The rumour is that their mother refused to help the Death Eaters. Anyway, the boy was only five and they don't think he'll survive his first moon which is tomorrow." Hermione explained and Mikayla immediately frowned, "Remus was bitten when he was five and he made it." Mikayla stated trying to sound hopeful, "yeah, well Remus had a werewolf expert to raise him and wasn't printed in the Daily Prophet." Hermione argued, and Mikayla fell silent as Harry asked who was the werewolf that attacked them.

"Well, the rumour is that it was that Fenrir Greyback, but that can't be right because he's in Azkaban." Hermione informed them and Mikayla felt a bad feeling in her stomach. "Unless he escaped again and the Ministry hid it again." Harry voices Mikayla's bad gut feeling, "I mean, he's the only known maniac who likes attacking kids, the one who turned Lupin!" Harry spat angrily, but the foursome became silent as it seemed the Montgomery sisters were making their way over. "Mikayla Black? Can we speak with you privately?" Cora asked and Mikayla got to her feet instantly, "yeah, of course." Mikayla turned to her friends telling them that she'd be back in a few minutes and asked them not to go anywhere.

Mikayla lead the Montgomery sisters out of the courtyard onto the bridge, where she set up a silencing charm to prevent anyone from overhearing what they're saying. "What can I do for you two?" Mikayla asks as she leans against the archway of the bridge, "we don't know if you heard about our little brother, but we had to do something, we can't just let him die. So we here to ask your help and we understand if you don't wanna hel-" Evangeline began to explain but Mikayla cut her off as she was about to suggest that Mikayla wasn't going to help them.

"I need your address. I'll go to visit your family myself after seventh period before dinner and do what I can to help your brother." The sisters seemed very surprised at Mikayla's willingness to help them, Cora grabbed a piece of parchment and scribbles down their home address. "What are you going to do?" Evangelina asks as she hands Mikayla the address, "I can't legally tell you, I'm afraid. But I promise to do everything I can." Mikayla pocketed the address and gave the sisters a confident smile.

"How much will this cost us?" Cora questions and it's clear that she doubts that Mikayla is doing this out of the kindness of her own heart. "Oh I don't want anything. I've got a few werewolf friends and I owe it to them to try and stop lycantrophy from taking another child's life. I just ask of you to be there for your brother and remind him that his condition doesn't make him a monster and that he is loved." Mikayla offered them another smile before she removed the silencing charm and bid the two girls goodbye.
