When Mikayla woke up in the Hospital Wing, hours after learning to news about her sister. Avery was gone, the last link to her old life was taken away from her and Mikayla wasn't staying in Hogwarts after hearing the news. Whilst everyone thought she was sleeping Mikayla made an elaborate plan to leave and make it very difficult for her to be followed. She was given an opening to sneak out of the Hospital Wing whilst Madam Pomfrey went to her office to speak with Mrs Weasley about her condition. She snuck into Gryffindor tower as everyone else was in the Great Hall for dinner, she filled her blue bag with everything that belonged to her and Avery. She left a note laying on her pillow, apologising but stated that she needed to escape for a while, promising to write letters. She left the watch Fred had given her that resembled the Weasley clock, next to the note, remembering it had GPS on it and she didn't want to be found for a while. Mikayla snuck into the kitchens and got a bunch of food for her to eat, asked Dobby to collect Selene and bring her to Mikayla, which he did without hesitation.

Using the secret passageway to Honeydukes cellar, she got away from the castle and was able to flag down the Knight bus at Hogs Head Inn. There was no conductor for some reason but Mikayla asked the driver Ernie to bring her to Gringotts Wizarding Bank. She knew that Bill and Fleur had Sundays off, which lined up perfectly with her escape plan. When she got there she was escorted to the Black vault first, she took out 360 Galleons, then she went to her own vault taking 1,500 Galleons, 500 sickles. Mikayla made a request that 500 of the sickles she took out were to go towards Avery's funeral and whatever is left over to the Weasleys. The rest of her money was exchanged into Muggle money. Mikayla then used the Floo Network via the Leaky Cauldron to go to Glasgow, dying her hair dark brown in a Muggle salon, making a call pretending to be a random French woman, booking a flat for a month in Cardiff via payphone for her step-daughter who is an actress, who is starring in a movie based in Wales. Mikayla told the landlord that the girl should be arriving within the next hour, that she had a emotional distress animal which happened to be an Owl and that her step-daughter Imelda Mikaels had cash to pay for the flat. Mikayla changed her clothes to look like a different person as she recalled the Knight bus, disguising her voice when ordering to be brought to Cardiff in Wales.

Mikayla went to a Muggle boutiques, she bought duffel bag and bought Muggle clothes to go with it, so she didn't look strange when she arrived at the flats with a tiny handbag as luggage. Mikayla got herself some food, before she walked into the flats reception, Mikayla put on her best Scottish accent. "Hello, my new mother said she booked a flat for me for the month, the name is Imelda Mikaels." The woman at the front desk beamed, "yes, Miss Mikaels, so you're mother-" the woman began, and like any bratty Muggle girl would Mikayla cut the woman off, "step-mother, she's lucky number 5." The woman looked stunned at the number, but continued on after correcting herself, saying they agreed on £650 for the month. Mikayla nodded, took out the exact amount and slide it over to the woman. "You don't mind if I check the bills." Mikayla shook her head no, as the Muggle woman insured she hadn't received fake money. "Very well, follow me." Mikayla picked up her bags, following the Muggle to flat 4b on the fourth floor. "If you need anything, there's a number next to the phone to ring the front desk." Mikayla thanks the Muggle woman with her accurate Scottish accent before collapsing on the bed.

That was 12 days ago, Mikayla was still in Cardiff, trying to decide whether or not she'll bother going back. She visited her friends in their dreams, telling them that she was safe and explaining that she had to leave so she could grieve. She sent all her schoolwork in via Selene, and has been sending howlers to Fred, so that he could hear her voice and know she's okay. She's spent most of her time away from the flats to make it seem to the landlord that she had big shifts working on a made-up movie that she was staring in. Mikayla could probably draw a map of Cardiff's side streets and little shops that she ends up residing a lot of time in. She's been trying to use her Mediumship to speak to Avery, but she can't make a connection. She spoke to Alina about it, but the woman spoke cryptically and Mikayla didn't understand what she was getting at.
