Striking a Cord

Mikayla smiled after she got changed into her robes, "I'll be right back, I need to talk to Avery before we arrive." Mikayla left the compartment, Harry left following her, "I need you to distract the Slytherins while I try to listen in on Malfoy." Mikayla nods agreeing with Harry's plan, she knew either way Harry would find a way to eavesdrop. "If I don't work, use this." Mikayla pulls Instant Darkness Powder out of her blue bag, offering it to Harry, who gratefully took it. Mikayla arrived at the Slytherin compartments, she spots Avery speaking to Brian, which made the blonde beam.

"Black! What are you doing here?" Mikayla flinched at Draco's loud voice in her ear, "none of you business, Malfoy." Mikayla sneered as she went to walk away Draco held a tight grip on her upper arm, "what is your problem?" She snapped looking back at him once she forcefully pulled her arm out of his grasp. "You and Potter are my problem." Mikayla rolls her eyes at the boy, "I was literally just walking past you, minding my own business when you yelled at me for zero reason." Draco got more in Mikayla's face, she saw the exhaustion in his eyes which made a small frown play on her lips, "you got my father thrown in Azkaban!" Mikayla didn't even bat an eyelash at the Malfoy's outburst, "your father got himself thrown in Azkaban. He's a Death Eater, Malfoy! He deserves to be in Azkaban." Malfoy spotted the hurt in Mikayla's eyes whenever she mentioned Azkaban, a place she associated with being the reason she's an orphan now.

Mikayla stalked away from Malfoy towards the exit, sending an apologetic look at Brian and Avery, who were watching the scene unfold, along with the rest of the Slytherins. "Why don't you take that Staleblood with you!" Mikayla spun around furious as she saw Malfoy point to Avery, Mikayla tackled Malfoy to the ground, "you foul, evil, arrogant bastard!" Mikayla yelled as she went to hit Draco, but she was dragged off of him by Brian, "let me go! It's about time someone taught him a lesson." Mikayla thrashed as she tried to swipe at Draco as he was helped off the floor. "Mikayla, it's okay..." She heard Avery whisper to her in a calm voice, "it's not okay, he thinks he's above everyone else, but he's nothing more than a coward!"

Brian began dragging the blonde out of the compartment, "watch yourself Black or you'll end up like your pathetic father." Brian let Mikayla go, he knew that Malfoy had officially crossed the line and he couldn't help but agree with Mikayla, Malfoy needs to be put in place. Instead Mikayla stood still, it was clear that she was talking herself down, "is that a threat?" Mikayla's voice was calm, steady in the most terrifying way, "are you one of them now, Malfoy? Did you have to replace your failure of a father?" She questioned looking in Malfoy's eyes seeing a glint of fear swimming behind his grey orbs. "My dad might be dead, but at least he died for something worth dying for, he died a hero. Your father will die a villainous failure, and if you're not careful, you will too." The room was silent, as Mikayla's head was held high as she spun around and left, leaving a stunned room of Slytherins and Harry in her wake.

"Did you get to speak with Avery?" Hermione questioned the second she saw how tense Mikayla was. Mikayla shook her head, "Malfoy?" Ron asks, he already knew the answer but wanted Mikayla to confirm it. "He's mad about his dad. He called Avery a Staleblood and then warned me that if I'm not careful, I'll wind up dead like my dad." Mikayla could see Neville and Ron's jaws clench at her words, "what did you say?" Luna questioned, "that my dad died a hero and his dad will die a villainous failure." Hermione pulled the blonde into a hug, Mikayla was shaking from the adrenaline leaving her body, as she hugged Hermione back. "I'm okay..." Mikayla promises Hermione in a whisper as they hugged, "have you see Harry? He went to get some air but he's not back yet." Ron questioned the blonde once she was seated, "no, I didn't see him." Mikayla knew how the group react if she told them that Harry has gone to eavesdrop on Malfoy.

The train came to a stop at Hogsmeade station, the group grabbed their animals, Ginny took Hedwig off of Mikayla, "where's Harry?" Hermione questioned as the group looked along the empty train car, "he's probably on the platform. Come on." Ron spoke leading everyone onto the platform, but Harry was no where in sight. "I'll wait here, maybe he's still on the train. You go ahead." Mikayla tells her friends, all of which agree reluctantly, Mikayla notices the Slytherins' car had all it's blinds pulled down. Mikayla makes eye contact with Malfoy as he leaves the train, he had content expression on his face, which worried the blonde. There was no carriages left, so Mikayla watched the blonde begin his walk up to the school.

Mikayla then decided that she was gonna search the train, "Harry?" She called into the Slytherin's compartment, as she walked through the isle something tripped her, she looked over to see Harry frozen with a gushing bloody nose, "Finite." Harry unfroze, and a sigh escaped his lips. "I knew Malfoy looked too happy leaving." Mikayla gave Harry some Carra Curatio, getting him to rub it into his nose, then she summoned a cloth and poured some water on it before cleaning the blood off his face.

"What are you two doing?" Luna's dreamy voice makes the pair jump in surprise, "Malfoy froze Harry and broke his nose, I'm cleaning him up." Mikayla spoke with a neutral tone as she continued to clean the blood from Harry's face. "Oh okay, you know Harry your head is full of Wrapspurts." Harry looked up in attempt to figure out what she's talking about. "They are invisible creatures, they flow in your ears and make your brain go fuzzy." Mikayla informs Harry, she remembers reading about them in the Quibbler that Luna gave her. "Oh." He nodded knowingly. "We should hurry, they'll get worried if we're missing." Harry and Luna, nod in agreement before the trio made their way up the castle.
