Friday, April 13th, 1990
Morning...
I had all my belongings packed. I was leaving home for the weekend tonight at 11 for my older sister's birthday party. She turned 22, and her birthday was April 10th, but we decided to have the party on Saturday. I was meeting up with Jess so we could talk more about my going to Japan. This was a big decision that I was making for myself. This required a lot of Jess's advice. Not just on the trip itself, but also on how to deal with my mom and Tamara. I know both will say no. And if they say no it will be extremely difficult for me to go.
"Alright, so you want to go to Japan and see Nikki." Jess exhaled leaning back on her couch.
"Look Jess, I know you don't think it's a good idea," I spoke, as I paced back and forth in her living room. "But honestly me and Nikki have been fighting like crazy and it's driving me insane."
"You and me both. Fred was pissed at me because of that AMA fiasco with Bobby Brown."
"Well, I told Fred you knew nothing about it." I waved my hands. "All you had to do was lie."
"Mani, this is Fred we're talking about. There's no way I can lie in his face. And honestly don't want to. That's how trust is broken in a relationship." She chuckled.
I looked up and glared at her.
"But anyways, back to you going to Japan. This is a big deal and your mom for sure will say no. Plus you also have filming of your TV series."
"I know, I can work out the TV series and yes I know she will." I stopped pacing and looked at Jess. "So, what do I have to say for me to go?"
"Well like you said, you're just going to tell your mom that you're going with friends."
"Jess come on be serious." I groaned and sat down. "If I don't see Nikki, I'll never hear the end of his voice. And right now, it's annoying."
"Ok." She sat up. "I'll see if I can organize a photo shoot in Japan. Or I can try and see if they would like to do an interview or something with you. I'm not making any promises though."
"Yes." I nodded. "Just do whatever you can. Worst comes to worst I'll just say Jade is traveling to Japan for a trip and I'm going to go with her."
"Uh... why don't you just say Heather?" Jess questions.
"Because Heather's married to Tommy and my sisters know Tommy and Heather. So, if I say Heather my mom will ask for her last name and search for her. And then my sisters will put the pieces together." I stood up. "And then I'll be in deep s-h-i-t. Because she'll find out that Tommy is in Motley with Nikki." I walk towards the door.
"Do you think you're ever going to tell your mom?" Jess stands and walks towards me.
I finished putting on my wedges and turned to her. "Trust me I want to but it's just not the right time."
