I sat in the passenger seat of Jade's car, staring out the window as the cityscape whizzed by. My mind was a whirlwind of thoughts.

"Are you okay?" She asked, her tone gentle.

I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "Yeah, just thinking about everything. Restarting Darling Cosmetics... it's going to be so difficult and tiring. I'm not sure if I'm ready for it. Especially because when I opened it in Canada I did it with Tamara. Now I'm doing it by myself."

Jade nodded; her eyes focused on the road ahead. "It's a big step, Iman. But you're strong, and you've built this business from the ground up before. Even if it was with Tamara. You still knew what you wanted. You can do it again."

I bit my lip, feeling a wave of doubt wash over me. "My customers have been writing letters. They're angry that I shut down the business temporarily. They keep asking when it will be up and running again. It's so much pressure."

Jade reached over and squeezed my hand. "I can't even imagine how hard that must be. But think of how much they love your products. They believe in you, and so do I."

I looked at her, grateful for her support. "Thanks, Jade. It means a lot to hear that."

"What else is bothering you?"

"I haven't heard from Theresa."

"Theresa?" Jade furrowed her brows.

"She was my assistant. She was helping me with handling my phone calls and bookings. But she also helped me with my issues. And now I have someone else doing it. But she's not as good as Theresa."

"Have you tried calling her?" She took a glance at me.

"I have. I've left her several messages and she hasn't gotten back to me."

"Sorry girl."

We pulled up to the building space I was interested in, and my heart started to race. It was a large, modern structure with expansive windows and a sleek design. It had so much potential, but it also represented a huge commitment.

We got out of the car and walked towards the entrance. I could see my reflection in the glass doors, my belly slightly rounded with pregnancy. It was a reminder of how much my life had changed and how much was still uncertain.

"Iman." My assistant Tasha called to me.

"Hi, Tasha. Where's everyone?"

"They're inside already come on."

As we entered the building, I tried to envision it as the new headquarters for Darling Cosmetics.

"Iman, glad you made it. Are you alright?"

"Yes, Sandra I'm fine. And thanks for coming everyone."

I felt a mixture of excitement and anxiety. Jade was by my side, and with us were my realtor, Sandra; my contractor, Mark; and the building inspector, Mr. Lawson.
