third pov:

hayley wasn't sure how long she had been driving but all she knew was that she had to keep on driving. she had no idea why or where she was going but all she knew was that she had to keep on going. 

driving actually gave the oldest swan time to think about how she truly felt about her situation.

on one hand she felt betrayed hence the reason she ran off, but another part of her was telling her to give them the benefit of the doubt. to give them a chance to explain themselves.

she knew she should hear them out but for reason something inside her mind was telling her not to listen to their words. 

aside from that all she could think about was what her mates could've been doing that very moment it all went to shit.

third pov

*after hayley left*

rosalie and emmett were frozen in their as was charlie. bella on the other hand continued to eat her dinner with a nonchalant look on her face. 

charlie stood in his spot with a look of utter disbelief plastered across his face as he processed the events that had just happened. 

"we have to go and find her." 

rosalie muttered already making her way out of the house and to the jeep where she proceeded to climb in and buckle up with emmett following close behind her. 

"i'll try and call her." 

charlie shouted running back inside the house to the house phone while emmett and rosalie drove off in search of their mate. 

the vampires searched for hours but for some reason, they couldn't find hayley anywhere in forks. they searched the cullen house, the town hell even asked the wolves if they had seen their mate but to no avail their questions were left unanswered. 

it didn't help that the rain had also seemingly washed hayley's scent away. replacing her strawberry and watermelon scent with fresh rain and concrete. 

charlie wasn't having any luck either. hayley wasn't picking up his phone calls. dread filled his body as the middle aged man felt his heart beat increase in speed the more times he tried to call his eldest daughter. 

he felt guilty, if he hadn't invited hayley over for dinner then maybe this wouldn't have happened. he knew how hayley was feeling but still decided to invite her over anyway.

tears threatened to leave his eyes the more he continued to think of his beloved daughter. and soon enough, sobs escaped his throat as his legs turned to jelly causing him to collapse onto the floor in a heap alerting the youngest child who was standing in the kitchen making herself some food to eat. 

"charlie!" 

bella yelled running over to her father who was still sobbing over the loss of his eldest child. 

"i'm fine bells. i just feel guilty." 

"why do you feel guilty? hayley was the one who decided to run away. her leaving wasn't your fault." 

bella quickly said awkwardly trying her best to comfort her old father. but her words didn't work instead they made charlie feel even more guilty which of course made him cry even more. 

"i knew she wouldn't have been comfortable coming here especially since it hasn't even been long since she was discharged. i was selfish all i wanted for the three of us to be together like a family again. i didn't put her feelings into account and look where that got us." 

charlie explained looking down at his hands which were now clenched into tight fists as he continued to wallow in his guilt. 

meanwhile with bella, she wasn't feeling any regret or remorse for what happened with her sister. 

"serves her right. she's always in the spotlight. i'm always in her shadow and i'm sick of it." 

this was the only thought that seemed to be running through her head as she watched her father. 

"i don't care at all."

she thought to herself ignoring the tiny pit of guilt that was simmering in her stomach.

author's note:

i apologize for being away for so long but truth be told i lost interest for a bit. reason for that was because my laptop was broken and i absolutely despise having to type my chapters on my phone. it aggravates the crap out of me. but since i've found a way to use my laptop, my motivation is back. 

i would also like to apologize about this chapter! 

it is absolute shit i know, but i just wanted to do everybody's take on hayley leaving especially emmett's, rosalie's and charlie's.
