hayley watched as her younger sister was engulfed in a bear hug from their mother, renee who was sad to watch her only children leave the nest.
"you don't have to do this." renee insisted as she pulled away from the shorter swan twin who only shook her head.
"we want to."
bella replied awkwardly. hayley rolled her eyes at her twins terrible lying skills. she knew that bella was only doing this to make their mom happy. she in the other hand was bursting with excitement to see their dad because unlike bella who preferred hot climates, hayley had always preferred cold climates. he loved the rain because it calmed her down and because it was naturally beautiful.
renee gave both of her children one last hug before she watched them board their plane. as the plane was about to take, off the two twins gave their childlike mom one last smile before they fully disappeared one their way to forks washington where they were going to begin their new life.
after the four hour plane ride to forks, hayley who was closely followed by bella walked towards the entrance where they found their father, charlie swan waiting for them. after the three packed their luggage into the car, the each got into the cruiser. bella in the passenger seat and hayley in the back behind bella while charlie was in the drivers seat.
the car ride was silent to say the least something that hayley didn't like. she didn't like it because she could only imagine how awkward charlie and bella must feel next to each other. hayley knew that the only reason that bella was awkward around charlie was because she didn't know much about him. well not as much as hayley she meant. whenever the twin spent the holidays with their father, hayley spent lost of her time with their father, showing him her trophies and any awards that she had won during her time away from the rainy town.
"your hairs longer." charlie commented as he looked at bella's chocolate brown hair which was a tad darker than hayley's hair.
"i cut it since the last time i saw you." bella replied.
"guess it grew out again." charlie gruffly said making bella quietly nod in reply.
"how's your mom?" charlie asked as he glanced hayley who was silently watching the trees go past through the mirror.
"good."
was bella's short reply as the car became silence once again. hayley sighed as they passed the sign that said "the city of forks welcomes you - pop. 3246." this one sign had always brought hayley comfort because it meant that she could truly leave the noisy city life and escape to a place which was truly quiet. don't get her wrong hayley loved the city but not as much as she likes the quiet town of forks.
as soon as the cruiser pulled up at the two storey house, hayley immediately unbuckled her seat, grabbed her stuff and then went inside. as she walked inside she stopped to look at one of the photos which was hung up on the wall. it was a picture of a stubborn seven year old bella who was wearing a pink tutu while hayley stood beside her holding up a gold soccer medal while wearing a muddy uniform and an extremely muddy pair of cleats. she remembered how happy she was when she was rubbing her victory in bella's face as bella started to cry. hayley shook her head and walked up the stairs and into her room which was in the attic not bothering to listen to the conversation between her twin and her father.
when the brown haired girl got into her room, she was happy when she saw that her father hadn't changed a thing. why was she happy you ask? because she hates it when other people do stuff for her when she is perfectly capable of doing it herself. hayley looked at all of her photos that she had of both herself and bella and even some with her parents that were blue tacked to wall.
however, hayley's reminiscing was cut short when she heard a car door slam shut outside. hayley curiously walked over to the window and squealed at what she saw. outside the house she saw her best friend and younger brother figure, jacob black who was helping his father billy black our of the car. hayley ran down stairs skipping two stairs at a time before she sprinted over to jacob and pulling him into a bear hug which caused both her godfather and her best friend to laugh at her antics.
"jacob i missed you soo much!!!" hayley whispered hugging him tighter before she pulled away and gave billy a hug as well.
"bella you remember billy black."
charlie stated as bella awkwardly nodded though hayley knew that her sister was clearly lying.
"glad you're finally here. charlie hasn't shut up about it since you
told him you were coming."
charlie scoffed indignantly.
"stop exaggerating or i'll push you down the hill."
"right after i ram you in the ankles."
billy retaliated using his wheelchair to attempt to hit charlie who was dodging. Hayley shook her head in amusement before turning to watch jacob who was shyly approaching bella. hayley had always known about the boys crush on her twin and promised not to tell her which jacob was exceptionally grateful for.
"i'm jacob, we used to make mud pies when we were younger."
hayley turned around and walked back into the house not wanting to disturb anyone. when she arrived in her room, she was greeted by a text from phil.
papa phil:
your car will be there tomorrow.
hayley squealed in excitement at the thought of getting her car. she loved her car more than she valued her life. her car who she had named baby was a metallic red dodge challenger. she won her car after winning a bet when she was in florida.
renee was of course against her car when she first saw it but her opinion soon changed when she realised that with her own car, hayley would be able to hang out with her friends without having to ask both herself and phil for rides everywhere.
once her room was set up, hayley got changed out of her outfit and into a comfy pair of sweatpants and a singlet before she went to bed, letting darkness oversome her as soon as her head hit the pillow.
