Folks, what I did not mention, was the Station Master, was just a touch unfriendly. He say somethin abouts helpin him. Then got all pissy whens I told him it weren't my job. I was ta only deliver said updates. Folks, done this befer only it was just Stations, York ways an that was only 5 Stations. He asked in a friendly manner, well just might a helped.
Do know, when I was, talked ta bouts my Station. Why they try an anger ya, they wants a person that can remain calm folks. Just do they job, help a fella Ranger out ifin need be. Did not do much in Duncan, hell weren't much ta do. That young Pleasantry Girl why, was nice as can be. She had little clientele, an she had that fella or fellas twice a week. Just so happens it weren't the three days I was around. My thinkin is it was one fella, he probably had trinkets ta spare.
No need ta go any further, weren't none a my business. We hads us a good time, she was willin ta talk. We laughed her place was once a small Saloon. She had player piano, we danced had meals tagether folks. Why it was like bein home, well least ways. My idea a bein at my own home.
Her name, was Jennel folks. That name a stay with me till I die. We never took a roll in the sheets, my mind did think on it, believe me folks it did. We did go out once, a late evenin walk. We sat in the square, an watched the five oil lamps in town get lit, by an old fella that struggled ta climb his small ladder ta lite thum. Few folks were out, passin the time likes we were.
We walked the 8 blocks down main, then turned an went back. The Saloon when we passed it on the way backs. Wasn't over loud, no a ruckus, folks playin cards an small talk was all. We decided ta step in, an have a drink.
I gots an ale she gots some kinda wine with a whisky in it. She asks when I would be leavin. Told her probably day may be two. Then I asks why. She say in abouts a day, men be comin in from the Ranch bouts day ride north a town. That is when she makes her trinkets ta live off of.
I say, no worries hell ifin I am still here. I can sleep at the Station. Ifin ya worried bouts, someone other than a customer in the place. Folks we finished that drink a ours. Walked on back ta her place.
That's when, she took my hand, an we walked back ta her room. We sat on the edge the bed, folks I won't lie abouts it, thins got ta stirrin in my britches, yessum it did. Folks she still had my hand, in that gentil grip a hers. She rested her head near my shoulder, an say Common ya are a sweet man. Ya have made no advances towards me. Ya treated me like a lady, not the bed companion I am. Folks I gently pulled her head up ta see her face. She looked like she was ready ta cry.
I say, ya are a fine lady. Hell what make ya think ya aren't! Ifin other folks have a problem with what ya do, why they is wrong. Jennel I say, ya are no different than the Saloon owner or the fella that owns the General Store. Ya all provide a service fer the town, an it is legal. She say, so ya don't think it undignified fer me take those fellas in, while they in town? Nope I say.
I adds long they do ya, no harm, an you ain't bein forced ta do what ya do. I say they is laws that protect ya, ifin ya didn't know that. She looked at me folks an stood, took her skirt off, an then her blouse, folks can not say, I felt like a fire was on me. Why I was over hot, I say Jen I best be leavin.
She say Common ya are a gentlemen, ya can stay ifin ya want ta. Folks that child came ta mind, then Tam, I say sorry Jen, truly find ya attractive as all gets out, best leave though.Folks, how I managed not, ta stay. I am tellin ya thins were stirrin that almost took control of me! Tam an that child came ta mind, even ifin she didn't wants me around. I still felt a call ta her. I just hope, me a turnin her aways didn't hurt her is all. The next day, folks she was little withdrawn from me, later that evenin, it felt like the first day with her. Most friendly young lady, I have met ta that day. Folks, when passed through, on my way backs, why she was gone. Not a soul, knew where she went or why she left town.
Of course gettin ahead a myself here. Not much in the way a law, happened while I was in Duncan. Nope just a lonely town middle nowhere. Folks Texas way, most small towns middle a nowhere.
When I climbed on my horse ta leave, Jen was watchin, she smiled an waved me off. Folks I waved, rode west I did not look back. That book a updates got just a touch bigger. It's a lonely ride this part the country, hell towns ranches farms, are a might far apart. Ya think, ya see a Ranger. Hell ain't seen any but the Station Masters.
I wasn't but a days ride, from Fort Sill, folks figured I would try an push it. Get there befer dark. Did take the time, ta watch a heard a Buffalo pass. Must a be near thousand of thum, could been more folks. They was loud as they pass, those hooves beatin the ground. So many the ground was near dirt after they passed. Magnificent creatures they are, made me smile ta see thum. Folks back east they all gone, guess we killed thum all off.
Folks, just knew I wanted ta head back east, soon it was near September. Be gettin cold soon, didn't want ta be stuck forcin my way through no snow or ice. Didn't have ta stay around the Post, just drop off, an could ride where I wanted. Unlessin they had job needed done. Folks it was evenin when I arrived, Post Orderly Room was about ta close. Made it though, damn happy I did. Got those blame updates off my hands.
They gave me a bunk ta spend the night. Say have ta draw rations in the mornin, open at dawn. Folks, think that about do it fer this time, till next time. Ifin they is one.
