Ok, Folks, we gots one dead Shield, Helen is still missin. No clue as ta what happened ta her. We still, don't have a clue on what this killer, looks like or why this last victim was still alive. Doc just finished up, his part the investigation. So we a know here shortly. Like usual one day, a nothin. Of course, one could be missin right now!

Folks, hell ifin this lady lives alone, she could be missin fer days. Befer someone doesn't see her. Lan sakes, my thinkin is, find that Miss Virginia. We need a talk, one she just, may not like. So I went ta find Miss Virginia, Doc say he needed ta check over some stuff, with another Doctor in Orleans. A Doctor Davis was his name, one a Docs old teachers.

Folks like most with wealth, just gots ta say they name. People a know, where they live. Told the cab ta take me ta the Mosser home. Driver just nodded, was all he did. Must a took maybe hour ta get, ta the Mosser place. Folks Orleans is one the cleaner cities I seen. Still not like the great open fresh air the countryside. So what I learned at the Mosser place, folks Miss Virginia wasn't in, guess who was though? Go on guess!

Hell that's right, ya can hear me, but ya can't answer or I can't hear ya. Well ifin ya guessed Ted, ya wrong. Ifin ya guessed only the Houseman or Butler ya wrong. Ifin ya guessed Fred! Folks ya are straight up on track! So ya are right! Folks this was interestin ta say the least.

So my interview a Fred Mosser. Fred his self answered the door. I say Ranger Common Howard, Sir I believe ya must be Fred, look a lot like yar sister. Miss Virginia my, the resemblance is astounding. Fred, say my baby face, is rather different. Yes me an my sister look much a like.
How can I help ya, Ranger? I say, can I come in? Like ta talk about a few thins.

Fred, he say of course, I've talked ta my sister. She told me about the murders startin up again. She left just yesterday fer Saint Louis. No I am sorry, that is tomorrow, she is stayin with friends this evenin. She leaves by carriage from there, ta Saint Louis. I've seemed ta loose track of the days. Folks he offered me a drink.

We both sat, had our talk. This be laid out like my notes on our conversation. Those a ya, that are actin like an investigator, now best pay attention, an listen a might close.

I asks, Fred ya been ta Savannah in pass month or Mobile? Fred say, no Ranger don't travel as much. I have my travel time every other year now. I have people ta run the business end better now. So the most I've traveled was ta come down here. Fer sometime away.

I asks ya live in Saint Louis, full time? He smiled folks it was funny, looked like Miss Virginia even more, with that smile. He say, yes Saint Louis, with my sister, Virginia. Although rarely is she home at the same time.
She spends a lot time with friends, other family members. I nod some then ask, folks down in Mobile Dauphin Island, ta be exact.

Say ya just disappeared from the Island, an yar sister no one even heard of, showed up. Looked just like ya do. Fred say, I didn't want ta go back. I associated the island with death. We transferred our shippin away from the island. So I had no need ta return. Virginia wanted ta see the island, she liked the place so she visited more often.

Folks, this is where, my talk turns, very interestin. Fred I asks, yar friend Ted, just where is he? His father hasn't heard from him. Why is that, do ya know the why a this?
Fred folks, looked a might worried, he say Ted was his sister's carriage driver. He hasn't seen him, ifin he was here, he would of stayed at the carriage house.

Folks, his face showed more than worry, it was like I struck a nerve. So I pushed the part bouts Ted. I asks so ya an Ted were friends, Joe his Pa said ya were like another son. Tell me, now Fred, why not even visit the man, let him know his son was fine. I am sure yar sister mentioned his letters askin about him.

Ranger, what Ted does are doesn't do, isn't my problem. Joe was like a second father, I think he understood me better than my Dad. The Island still holds bad memories.
The death of that poor girl my last summer on the Island. I have no need ta go there again. Then why not send word ta him, or write a letter? Again I am not Ted's keeper.

Folks, I say, who killed that girl? Ya or Ted, maybe both ya did it! Don't think on it! Answer me! No need ta think!
Fred looked ready ta cry folks, he say me or Ted had no part a that. Ted or myself we, aren't that way. Ted loves life and couldn't even skin a rabbit. I asks, ya hunt while on the island, an did ya skin any rabbit? Fred say yes, that's when I decided ta try out medical school. I found bein a doctor wasn't in me.

Folks, then I asks, can I see Miss Virginia's room, an the carriage house? Fred, looked at me kinda funny, my sister's room only with me present. The carriage house is out back. I say, carriage house first. Fred I would like ya ta come with me. Folks, Fred looked a might worried.
I say, ya lead Sir.

The carriage house, was empty folks, didn't look like soul lived in it fer years. The small room had dust an looked unkept. I saw no sign a anythin even moved. Folks I stayed quiet on that point. We left went ta Miss Virginia's room. This room couldn't tell ifin she was there or not. Well cleaned, they was a few clothes in her wardrobe.
Some jewelry on the dresser. Folks, one thin stuck out, her travel trunk an two bags were in the room.

Those could be ones, she just keeps on hand, ya know wealth an all. Still it holds me more than a second as I turn ta leave. I asks, just where is yar sister? What part a town? Looks like her trunk an bags are still here? Folks Fred left the room. He closed the door, an say she went ta the Devaroe Plantation. A days journey from here, west of Orleans. She has several travel trunks an bags.

Folks the two bags looked packed, the trunk was closed. Ifin Miss Virginia had left. Why wasn't those bags with her? Where did Ted stay? Was it this room or another. I asks Fred may I see yar room? Folks Fred got defenses of on that. He looked hard, like he had nough a me. Say our talk is over. Ranger, we have no more ta talk about. So ifin ya don't mind, follow me ta the door.

Folks I nodded, an left the Mosser place. Folks what happened after, well is another part, but let's talk about what Doc had, on this. Then we a get inta what happened after. This all ties tagether folks.

This is what Doc has ta say. First the killer removed the whole reproductive system of her. They was no other parts removed, the breasts were left alone. She wasn't skinned. Doc had Davis look at her. They both say, it looked he tried ta safe, her after. It was like the killer wanted her ta live.

Doc is baffled ta say the least. He doesn't understand the why ta this. Doc say it's like he felt remorse, then he say maybe he just wanted ta see if he could do it. Away to even more ta defile her. Make her live with out any chance of bein a mother. Hell Common, I am not certain of anythin now!

Folks, this is not normal at all. The terrible killin now he tries ta save this one. Now fer what happened after. Might get this in here. Try an keep it from over long folks.

Folks I sat down the road out a sight, they house. The cab was around a corner. I sat fer just maybe half hour, at most. Fred came out, holdin what looked like a wrapped package. He turned the opposite direction from me. I watched some, make sure he wasn't watchin fer me.

Folks the package wasn't heavy, he moved ta well fer that. He did hold it close, like it was important. His walk well, best way ta put it, seemed a bit prissy ta me. Didn't notice that befer. Folks that is when, I decided ta send the cab that way. Told the driver ta remember where he takes him. Ta meet me at the Morgan restaurant after, ifin he excepts the cab. Folks a stayed put, watchin.

Well Fred flagged the cab down. What I finds out next time. Ifin they is one.

Thanks all for your time, vote make a comment if you care too. The elusive Fred has been found. If I haven't managed to totally confuse you, by now. The plot may have just twisted even more. So my fellow sleuths any clue as to what is going on?
