Evenin folks! Hey we get started here in about two shakes a lambs tail. Just wants ta get drink this whisky an we a start. Last time, the town folk was near over mad! So we start at that point. So let's go shall we!

Yep, they was shoutin some in full scream at me an the Constable! We weren't doin our job, some were yellin it was Doc, that done the killin! Others were chantin like they were in some kinda religious state! Sayin God would show us ifin the Doc was the killer! Ta use the drown method, ifin he sinks he is innocent! Folks, I was in state a shock! Never have I seen, such talk, use the drown method, lan sakes that ain't been used; since I was a child, ifin it was used then that I know of!

The Constable tried ta gain control! He shouted the Doc worked for Ranger Command! That was no good! They looked ta be ready ta charge us! Folks! I pulled my 36 fired twice in the air! Shouted, ifin ya step one step towards us! Why I blow ya head plum off! Go on an try me! Ya damn fools! Now get on home! Ladies stay in fer the night! Saloons an House Pleasantries are closed till further notice! Now go on home! Folks, ifin ya don't think I'd killed one thum, ya just wrong! One maybe two thum been dead, befer they gots ta Doc!

I told the Constable that him myself an his nightwalker be on duty tanight. We'd work out a plan fer the next few days later. Doc was ta stay in his room, not leave unless needed. Folks I needed a plan, ta settle these folks down. Ifin he don't kill tanight get few town folk or some those soldiers ta help walk the town. When I left Doc his pistol lay on his lap, an he had a martini in hand. He say Common I know how ta defend myself, patrol catch this walkin evil. I nod tell Doc ta stay put, shoot any that come through that door! Doc nodded say go on Common!

Folks not a thin happened fer four days, people were sayin it was because Doc was locked up in his room. Constable say, they could be right. Folks I trust Doc, bein a Ranger, best think on this some. Don't need the true killer a walkin with me. Damn this is gettin might hard ta deal with, the Army a have four nightwalkers fer us plus two town folk the Constable trusts. Me an the Constable take turns on the night watch.

                                     The Break!

Folks had ta let Doc out some, figured with him out some the town would see, he was a good man. Truth is Doc looked little troubled, maybe lost. Some folks need out an about more than others. My thinkin is Doc one those people, hell know it drive me just touch mad. Folks like clock work, that's when it happened we found her next mornin after sun up. I know I was with Doc till abouts eight that night. After don't know, Doc went ta his room.

Far as I know he didn't leave, I did allow the saloons ta stay open till ten, that way folks be home befer we figured he started his hunt. One the soldiers found Doc kneelin over her. I heard the shouts, I was up an outside the motel. Found thum soldier had his pistol on Doc. Doc was shoutin she is still alive! I need my bag! Folks alive! Ya heard right! She was covered with a blanket her clothes were folded shoes next ta thum. Doc shouted Common she is breathin, an has a pulse!

I shouted Trooper get the Docs bag out his room, an I mean now! Folks she don't look harmed, least ways see no cuts or blood. I run back ta Doc, asks she hurt? Doc say not that I can tell, she won't let me move the blanket.
She has hold it tight, she hasn't spoke a word. She won't sit up or anythin. Doc I asks why leave yar room? Ya know people a think ya done this! He say I ain't been out more than a hour! Needed a walk! Ya think I'm the one!

I say that don't matter, its what the town think! Ya know that, Sam White Hell Doc! What were ya thinkin? Folks she was fine, after her parents got her. Me an Doc interviewed her after, her Ma got her calmed an dressed.

Folks this is a might strange, so best be straight up. Never heard what, this young one was, but Doc had heard of it an seen it. So best let Docs notes on it be the word on this. Truth be told I couldn't explain it, an sound right. Oh an the killer left note penned inside the blanket.
