Evenin folks. How ya been? We a get started on this story here shortly. Ya know, well hell, folks I am a might saddened this story. Well, it brings back a lot bad and disturbin memories. Oh! Damn sorry, folks Beth can not make good coffee. They is grinds in every drink! Lan sakes, don't know how many times I tell her ta put the coffee in some cloth. Well, we get started, now so gets seated, an shall we!
Folks, we gots a strange, missin persons report. It was given by a Miss Hellen no surname folks. Best way ta put this, Miss Hellen an a Miss Norma Hill. Were introduced ta a Gentleman in a fancy carriage, by Miss Norma's brother a Mister Reginald Hill. She called him Reggie, Miss Norma ain't been seen in two days.
Reggie, far as she knows is around workin at Morris Gamblin House. She say, he lives at 23 Water Street third floor, number one. Miss Norma lives there also. Folks this was reported ta the Constable, an passed on ta me.
I asks her, ta tell me just how this all came about. Start from the why ya were introduced ta why think Miss Norma is missin. Her story folks, she say, Norma an Reggie, told her about a man a wealth lookin ta meet a common young lady. Ta spend some time with, he didn't want a Pleasantry Girl, just a normal workin type girl. Norma say, what is the harm. He will pay, us who knows may be he will fall fer one us.
I asks so, why did ya go? She say, like Norma say what was the harm. Just some rich guy, lookin ta meet some poor young trash ta have some fun. Figured even ifin I have ta roll in the sheets. Might just get more than one good pay out a him. Folks, ifin ya are wonderin ifin I would judge a poor lady fer that. No, most these girls or young ladies. Ya see, may not live better than they live now. Truth be known, they could end up in worse shape.
So no I can not judge, what they a do.They may be at the bottom a life, then again they could be on the way, ta the rock bottom. Folks that could a been those two, way outs of poor livin. So I will not judge. I say, please continue on.
I puts on the best I had, ta meet this, gentleman. The three of us, went ta Benton Square. His carriage was parked along Second Street. It was a fine black carriage he had a driver, I knew he was of wealth. The carriage was enclosed looked like a cab, the better off folk would take. I asks anythin more about the carriage, besides it bein black?
She say, not that I recall, just the driver. He looked like he would protect the man he was with. He was more than just a driver. I nod, an say so what was said, how he decide on Norma? What this wealthy fella look like?
Not much was said, he say fine job Reginald two wonderful picks. Reggie introduced us an say Sir I think these two a fit yar needs. The gentleman say, ladies I am Mister Jacko. Folks my ears perked straight up! Almost jumped, when I heard the name Jacko!
He looked at us, like he wanted ta bed us both. Almost like he was in bad need, fer a roll in the sheets Ranger. Ranger my manners are lackin just a bit, didn't mean ta embarrass ya. She works at a Saloon servin drinks, company ta gets the men ta buy more drinks. I said no need ta worry, caught me off guard is all. I say so what he look like, type a voice his mannerisms an such.
She say, he seemed a bit weird very low quiet voice more lady like, but not, ifin that sounds right. Rather small man maybe my height with out my shoes. Folks she took her shoes off an stood. I'd say she stood five, five at most.
No beard, his face look clean as whistle. His hair was longish tannish yellow. Folks straw colored hair!I asks anythin else, that stands out, any mannerisms how he acted? She say, that what ya meant. I don't know ifin this makes sense, some ways he over played bein a man. Haven't met many well off folk, could be that the way they are. I just can't put inta words how ta describe it. I say, no need think I gets it. Kinda like the Big Man that is in charge, he just puffin up actin big. She say that could be it, like say, just can not put it ta words.
Then he touched my face turned it some, like inspectin animal flesh. He grabbed me about my hips, then smiled. He whispered in my ear, fine lady I felt his tongue in my ear. He did Norma the same way, she kinda shivered durin the whisper thin. He looked us both over again, then say, Norma I choose ya, fer a grand full day an night on me, new clothes a fine meal. Then bit a nightly fun.
His hand cupped her backside an he led her, ta the carriage. He handed Reggie some trinkets, sent him on his way. He gave me a Jefferson, asked fer my address an say, maybe we have the same. Such a hard choice ta make.
Ranger I gave him my address, a Jefferson! Why I don't get that much in two weeks, not even a month! Folks most these ladies an men, the workin class lucky ta make twenty Lincoln a month. As ya know they is fifty Lincoln ta a Jefferson, four straight ta a Lincoln four Jefferson ta a Washington four Washington ta lady trinket Susan an eight Washington or two Susan ta the Sacagawea lady trinket then the little seen lady liberty they is two Sacagawea in the lady liberty.
Sorry folks just got off track trinkets, hell most never have nough a those. Folks this Jacko sounds a lot like that Fred Mosser, ya know Miss Virginia Mosser's brother. Folks Doc asked few questions, get ta those in moment. First, we need ta talk ta that Reginald Hill then Miss Virginia, is this fella her brother. Of course after Doc an his questions. Folks thinkin this is it we catch him, now it feels like we are closer!
Doc only asks two questions. He say I am goin ta do some play actin. Ya tell me ifin it's close ta the way he was actin. Now I am goin ta act like a lady, think about the way Jacko acted. Then tell us ifin that is the way he might of acted. Now I am tellin ya, Doc over-exaggerated the lady bit, but it made me wanta laugh, brought a needed smile ta Miss Hellen.
She say, in some ways, that is the words I couldn't find. Like he was tryin ta hard ta be a man. Does that make sense? Doc say, it does ta me, now would ya consider his voice deep like mine or Common, or more lady like? She say a maybe a little a both, I am not sure. Doc say that is fine, we can't remember all we see an hear. That's all I needed, ifin Common is finished. I am sure someone will see ya home. Folks, I didn't want ta send her home alone. She lived alone, I didn't wants ta give away we may know somethin. She said only one way inta the place.
So I told the Constable ta watch over her, we needed her protected. Folks me an Doc went ta talk ta this Reginald first. He was workin dealin cards, told him we wait till he got off. Folks we sat where we could watch him. Not that he had need ta run off. Just workin the Law, ya learn ta trust yar gut.
Doc didn't ask any questions this time, wonder why? Doc normally has this hunger fer information. So the interview a Mister Reginald Hill, Norma's brother.
Folks, I just wanta say, this Reggie well, disgusts me, ta no end. His sister missin two days, he ain't went ta the Constable or even missed work ta look fer her. Let's just say this interview was not pleasant ta say the least.
Folks, think that is it till next time, ifin they is a next time. Never know do we how long we gots.
