How ya all doing? Good ta see ya, do hope all is good fer ya an the family ifin ya have a family. Ifin ya would rather be at the dance, over the town square go on an go. Hell, Beth don't like ta dance. I would rather tell a story, ifin ya are willin ta listen. Folks once met a fella that say, ifin ya truly wise. Ya don't tell all ya know, why that makes no sense at all, but that ain't the fella I am talkin abouts. Nope this fella, well some background is needed.

I was up, near Maine yep, up the great white north. Folks it can be a might cold, even in the summer. Up that aways. One good thin, they gots this thin called Lobster, folks might fine eatin now. They boil it, takes some work ta eat. Lan sakes, worth the time. Looks like, what we call a crawdad, some call it crawdead. Thinkin that just the way they say it. Some parts the country, why need someone ta tell ya what they a sayin. Hell most times, may need ta think, on what I am a sayin. No matter gets comfortable, an we a start in moment. Ifin ya are ready?

Oh that's right, ya don't answer. So let's get started!

Folks, found myself, way north, Maine ways. Late summer almost fall. Why ya be half way warm in the day, near freeze at night. Went ta visit Momma fer a few days. We hads a fine time, we did. After decided hadn't been up Maine ways, since me an Norm were up that a ways. Figured be best ta ride that aways this time a year.
Well, on track Common, no need ta rattle on.

What part a Maine, was I in? Oh, why like I say so far north, they call it the great white. Place called Pembroke, out middle a no where. I mean no where folks, near that border with those Barbarians, least ways that where most people say they come from. Near Kannada, the rest of the great white. Ya see those Barbarians, they raid as far south as the Carolinas. Been a many a fight with coastal communities. They take what they can, an sail off. Been a many a year since they have raided. Sorry on track Common.

Folks, I just rode as fer as I could. Just wanted ta see a few thins, was all. Pembroke why they five Saloons no House a Pleasantries. Not a one! Damn fella needs some pleasure in life. When ya ain't got home nor a lady ta live with. Damn sorry folks, well I checked in with the town Magistrate that is what they call they Mayor.

They had no real problems, so took a room at the only Inn in town, Grey Winds was its name. Nice place fer an Inn, didn't have ta share a bed. Was the best part, they had small place ta get some food an drink. Had me what they call a plate. Folks it had lobster an goose with taters an some kinda corn mixture a beans corn an onions. Different ta say the least, had me this local whisky, after dinner with honey an spices in it. My, have ta make sure I find a bottle a that ta leave with! I know get ta yar point! I am a gettin there now, just wait.

This is where, that fella comes in now folks. As I was just gettin up ta, wander over ta the bar, ta stand a spell an think on what I wanted ta do with the rest of the evenin. This older fella comes in, I say older at the time, hell I couldn't a been more than 20may be 25 at most. This fella may not a been more than 40, at the time.

He smiled an nodded at me an the beertender. Then he say, gentlemen it is a fine day. Folks nothin wrong with that, just way he dressed. Well, didn't fit in, with the place we was. Folks, he a fit in just fine, York City or maybe Charles Town even Orleans. Real city type, ya know a dude or city slicker. Folks as he leaned against the bar, he pulled out these spectacles that just rested on his nose, no arms ta hold them on. Then a piece a paper, he read from it, bar tender he say. I would like one shot of what they call potato liquor and one shot of vermouth.

Well the beer tender laughed, a touch don't have vermouth he say, we have what they call vodka though. I have no clue as ta what vermouth is. This fella just nods, then say, one shot a whisky two of ginger beer, a be just fine. Then he say, friends I am, the right fine Professor John Bellum, doctor of life an death. The study of both I find intriguing, an a endless endeavor. Since ya have no ingredients fer a martini then I'll have this concoction I thought up myself.
