Anthony

Jess and I never really celebrated anniversary's when we dated the first time around. We did a little trip for our one year and our two year but that's about it. She was a working woman and I was focused on baseball so we never really made a big deal about it. But this time around was different because the time was more precious, more sentimental.

So as we hit the three month anniversary of us dating I decide to do something kind of special. Get her something nice and make it worth it.

I call in a favor with a few buddies and get us a helicopter tour. This is something I've never done before either so I was really excited. Though Jess is shy she is a lover of all things thrill. Bungee jumping and roller coasters and all of that. So I know she will love this, I just hope I don't piss my pants.

"Oh fuck. Oh shit" I mumble as we get strapped in to the pit of the helicopter. Jess has the biggest smile on her face as she looks at me.

"I can't believe you did this" she cheers.

"I can't believe I did this" I agree as she giggles.

"If you want we can do something else" she assures me as she sees the pure terror in my eyes.

"No no, I'm good" I assure her.

After finishing up the saftey precautions we take off to the sky. I close my eyes until I feel a hand on my thigh. Once I open them to see Jessie smiling at me and I couldn't help but smile back.

After we were high enough up to not topple a building we level out. I look out the wide open doors and you could see everything up here. My nerves melt away as I slip my hand in hers. She squeezes me assuring me that we were gonna be okay.

She takes a bunch of pictures of the view from up here and even makes me take one with her. We go over Wrigley and her house and the cafe and everything. It was cool to see something I see every day in a new perspective.

"This is insane" Jess claims.

"That's one way to put it" I agree.

"I've never seen anything so beautiful" she says.

"I have" I smirk as she just rolls her eyes. I'd say anything just to see her smile.

After about 30 minutes of flying the time was up as we make it back to the ground safely. We decide to go to our favorite little cafe for lunch to think back to the first time we met for a second time. Jess and I order our usuals and we get to say hi to Lauren. She's been working here since we came around all those years ago. I was so thankful that we still can come to this place and it feels like nothing has changed.

"I got you something for our three month anniversary. I know it's not anything crazy but I am so thankful I have you in my life and I hope, more than anything, that the rest of my life is like these past three months have been. This is something to last us for the rest of time" I say.

"You didn't have to get me anything" she insists.

"I know, but this works out really well if you ask me" I say.

I pull out the ring box and show her the ring I got her. Her eyes get big as she looks at the ring staring back at her.

"Oh my, Anthony, this is beautiful" she whispers

"Oh my, Anthony, this is beautiful" she whispers.

"The flowers are called forget me nots. They're very beautiful flowers that grow in bunches. The flower represents a lot of things, but for me they represent a connection that will last between space and time, loyalty despite how far we may be from each other, growing affection between two people and honoring memories. I feel like they best represent us and our relationship. And the promise I have to never forget you, and as long as you have that ring you won't forget me either" I explain.

She smiles big as she takes the ring out of the box. She slips it on her left ring finger and I couldn't help but smile too. This almost felt like when I proposed to her. I wasn't nervous this time around either, I was just excited to see her with the ring on her finger again.

She holds her hand out to look at the ring as tears start to form. She looks back at me just beaming as she shakes her head. "All of this for three months? You're setting the bar kind of high" she accuses as I chuckle.

"That's okay, I plan on celebrating everything I can with you. You're the best thing I've ever been able to call mine, I'm going to show you every chance I get how much you mean to me" I promise.

"You're spoiling me" she accuses.

"You want me to stop" I smirk as she giggles.

"No" she admits. "But I also don't love the idea of you spending all this money on me. I'm just fine sitting in this little old cafe with you drinking the worlds best orange juice" she smiles.

"And I love that about you. But every chance to remind you how much you mean to me needs to be taken because there'll be times I can't tell you or show you. But now you can look at the ring and forget me not" I smirk.

"Funny" she laughs. "But I do love this. Thank you. For everything" she smiles.

We finish our meal and decide just to spent the rest of this magical day walking around. She insists it's good for her brain to be stimulated and I ate a lot for lunch. So we walk around hand in hand just ready for whatever awaits us.

"I can't believe it's almost August. Crazy how fast time flies when you're with someone special" she says.

"Feels like so much longer" I admit. A few years longer for me.

"What do you want from us? You know, marriage, kids" she wonders.

"Marriage first, then at least two kids. A boy and a girl. I'll probably want more once we have some but that's a problem for a different day. I want to play until I have no more else to give. Then when it's all done I want to retire in-" I get cut off.

"Panama city" she finishes.

I look at her weird because that was always the plan before she got hurt. Move to Panama City and show our kids the life they deserve. And as far as I knew I haven't told her about that since she came back to me.

"How did you know that" I wonder.

"I'm not really sure. I know you love Florida and you said you vacationed there before and love it. I guess I just.. knew, somehow" she claims.

"Well you're right. That's where I want to go when I'm all done" I insist.

"I think that sounds wonderful" she smiles.
