[Un Cut] Take #13 | 'From Home' Recording Behind the Scene

mayse arrived at the studio earlier than the other members she had gathered to record their song: from home. dressed in a pair of sweatpants and a random top she found inside her closet, throwing her hair into a ponytail as she sighed, resting her head on the desk. "ah~ i woke up so early to get here," she said, turning in her chair to the producer that would be helping to record the song with the members. "unnie, do you want coffee?" she asked the older female who gave a small nod and muttered to the idol a soft thank you. waving it off, mayse requests sihyun; her manager to get some coffee for the staff on her way to the studio and to pay for the drinks with her card.

sihyun was someone mayse trusts with her life and the older female was practically another mother figure to mayse so she knew a lot of the idol's personal details. it's not like sihyun would leak it anyway, she'd gain nothing from doing that aside from being fired and losing her source of income. "you did a good job with this song by the way," the producer said from beside mayse who smiled.

"thank you unnie~ i'm really proud that this song made it to the album actually," mayse chuckles, her hands occupied by her hands. from home was a song mayse had produced and written when she was in her home studio, thinking about her hometown; la and her family whom she hadn't seen in the longest time due to quarantine in korea and her work. she also wrote the song whilst thinking of her international members and nct themselves. she was more than happy to call them her second family.

"aye~ miyoungie is here!" haechan entered the room. smiling, the magenta-hair-dyed female stretched a hand out for him, giving him a high five. mayse had decided she would help with the recording of the members first before recording her lines last. "am i first?" he asked as the female nodded her head with a smile.

"let's go!" she lightly cheered as haechan entered the booth, warming up his voice before they began recording. mayse swayed lightly in her chair as she checked the tone and feeling she was looking for. "wah that's was really pretty," she complimented her fellow member as they moved onto his next line. when he exited the booth, mayse turned to him and finds taeil standing in the room, waving at the eldest member as she complimented haechan's vocals. "you did well, don't be discouraged," she frowned from behind her mask.

humming, the older 00 liner patted her head and thanked the staff for their work before leaving as taeil entered the booth. sihyun quietly entered the room, wordlessly handing mayse and the staff their coffee with a soft smile. mayse glanced up at her manager with kind eyes and muttered a small thank you before returning to her work. "ah...it's not working out," taeil frustratedly spoke, ruffling his hair.

"oppa, you're doing great right now," mayse encouraged lightly, the producer beside her following her actions as they continued his recording slowly to ensure everyone was happy with their recording. "wow, unnie i feel hurt," mayse laughed when the producer asked taeil if he had written the song due to how well he was singing the song. "that note," mayse awed as she tilted her head to the side, admiring taeil's high vocal range. "mama kun!" mayse beams as kun entered the studio. feeling a tap on her shoulder, the young idol turns to face her manager who showed her phone to the girl.

a text message from her older brother asking how everything was down in korea and gave her an update on nami since she had been in america for the past few months. "did you want me to message him back that you're working?" sihyun asked as mayse whispered for the older female to message her brother back that she was glad their little sister as well and she'd call after work.

"i swear every time i hear yuta oppa sing, it amazes me," mayse said to the staff who chuckled at her behaviour. doyoung who had come on his own, patted her head with a light laugh, adoring the young girl's admiration for the other members.

"since when were you here?" yuta asked doyoung after requesting to listen to the full song from home, taking a seat on the couch as mayse sipped on her coffee. doyoung responded to his question as renjun entered the room, listening to the full song.

"can we give him a full solo in chinese?" mayse asked the staff, her words causing a laugh to escape everyone - including renjun who thanked his fellow 00 liner. "i'm being serious," she said before laughing it off and returning to being serious and focus on their work. "i love these type of songs. i'm going to petition for us to start doing more of this style," mayse yawned, leaning her chair as she listened to doyoung record after renjun.

stretching, mayse yawns when chenle entered the room, standing behind her. "hello," he greets the sleepy girl who hummed and waved a hand in front of him. "am i the last one?" he asked the female who shook her head and gestured to herself to indicate she'd be the last member to record for the song before the producers arranged it. once done, chenle exited the booth to see mayse standing and stretching her arms with a slight yawn. "noona are you staying for long?"

"i just have to record then i'm going to have dinner with the pandora members," mayse informed the younger male, grabbing her lyric sheet as she smiled at him, removing her mask. chenle hums and bids the girl goodbye who returned the gesture, entering the recording booth and making eye contact with the camera inside as she placed on the headphones. "ah late night recording, my favourite," she sighed, an airy laugh escaping her mouth as she warmed up.

"let's start with your first line: cuz of us i'm feeling strong again~" the producer sang the part as mayse answered politely, going into professional mode, focused on her recording. giving the line a few tries, she finds the one she likes the best and moves on her next few lines. once done, she sighs delighted by her recording and hums when the producer tells her it was time to record her adlibs.

"let's just play the song full out and i'll sing wherever," mayse suggested, chuckling as it was a joke however the producers agreed which shocked her. "oh, i was joking but sure!" she laughed. after recording everything, mayse left the room and grabbed her belongings, thanking the staff as she and sihyun left to dinner with pandora. "that was a fun day," mayse gently spoke as she held the camera in her hands - her own vlogging camera. "i think fans will love this song. it's very inclusive to all the international members of our group, we sound so soft and gentle. i really like it."
