Singer Crown Ep.5 - Semi Finals

Mayse was surprised to have made it this far into the competition. She hopes she had made it through her talents instead of her status as many had been complaining about online in the comments of her performance videos. It pained her to see such comments however she ignored them for her mentality and focused on providing the show with a fantastic performance for the semi-finals. This weeks theme was a message to yourself which the young idol found a fairly interesting theme for the semi-finals. She struggled to find a song until her sister suggested the song: Fine by her good friend and fellow labelmate, Taeyeon. Mayse thought to the lyrics and understood where her sister was coming from and decided to go with the song. In the weeks leading up to the performance, Mayse spent her time rehearsing with a live band, meeting the band late at night after her schedules with NCT and PANDORA. Her friend and stylist wanted to hand-make a dress for the performance and the idol was more than happy for her to do as she pleased but did feel guilty of having her friend work so much for her. When the day came, Mayse was feeling more nervous than she had expected to be - even after having years of experience on the stage. She sat inside her waiting room, fiddling with her hands as she watched the other contestants perform their semi-final pieces. As the minutes went by, the more she grew anxious about how she'd perform this time around.

Q. What would you say to your younger self?

Mayse sat up, fixing her posture as she sighed. "I have a lot I want to say to my younger self actually," she began as she fiddled with her hands. "The first thing I would say would be that everything will get better. I lost a lot of people dear to me but I know they're in a better place and are watching over me. Being proud of all my achievements," she smiled. "Another thing I would say is to not let anyone tear you down and to always know your worth," she gave a confident smile.

"Mayse-ssi," a staff peeked their head into her waiting room, smiling as she informs the singer her turn on the stage would be soon. Nodding, Mayse stands up and makes her way to the stage, holding a microphone and her in-ear monitor - her heels hitting the floor, creating a light clinking sound as the heel met the ground. Sighing, she puts on her in-ears and smiled as she bowed to the singer exiting the stage, complimenting their singing and having a light conversation before her name was called out by the host.

Getting onto the stage, Mayse smiles, waving at the audience as she stood smack centre of the stage with a live band behind her. "This performance is Taeyeon-nim's Fine," she began her talking portion of the stage. "My younger sister suggested this song to me and I agree with what this message conveys with my younger self's circumstances," she gave a light smile. The judges nodded, appreciating her explanation and tell her to begin her performance.
