mayse's pov.

i was lounging on my couch, watching the drama; imitation when i heard and saw my phone ringing on the coffee table. at first, i opted to ignore the call, hoping whoever was trying to contact me would eventually stop and try texting me instead but to my dismay, it didn't. after the fourth time my phone rang, i paused my drama and leaned forward to grab my phone off the coffee table, checking the contact to see who had been calling me all this time. looking down at the screen, i see it's my older brother; youngjae, attempting to facetime me along with a message that read: answer your phone dumbass.

how kind of you brother.

i rolled my eyes and decided to call him back, holding my phone up to show a pretty angle of my face. after a while, he did even end up answering my facetime call with my nephew; minkyu and my brother filling up my phone screen. "hello dear brother of mine, how can i be of assistance?" i wondered with a fake tone.

"hello to you too little sister," youngjae laughed, setting the phone against something so i could see him and minkyu clearly without him having to hold his phone. "kyu wanted to call and show you something," he tells me, looking down at his son who giggled.

"oh? what is it?" i asked my nephew, smiling softly as i watched him run off-camera to get something. "oh god, is something living?" i asked my brother when i heard him call out to minkyu to be careful with the 'thing' he wanted to show me.

"yes," youngjae laughed, sitting on the floor and minkyu reappeared on my screen, a small snake in his hands. "we got another snake," he smiles at minkyu who was allowing the snake to move around in his hands, chuckling at how ecstatic his son got upon seeing the reptile. "it's an albino hognose snake we got from a breeder here in los angelos," youngjae informs me.

nodding, i glanced at the reptile which was peacefully slithering around on minkyu's arms. "just how many snakes or reptiles did you end up adopting, huh?" i asked my brother, reaching forward and taking a sip of the cup of water i had placed on the table.

"um, well - we have karma and this hognose which kyu named mango, then baohe wanted a turtle so we got one and nami adopted a leopard gecko earlier this month," he listed off, now holding the hognose in his hands. "we've basically become a reptile house," he chuckles.

"i can see that," i laughed, patting a spot next to me for juniper to jump on, showing my dog to my brother and nephew. "juniper says hi, by the way, ~" i giggled before my shiba inu jumped off and went to play with one of his toys. "any plans of getting more reptiles?"

"maybe one or two more," youngjae smirked at me.

"oh god, your freezer is going to be filled with frozen mice," i cringed but smiled afterwards. i had always admired my brother's love for snakes and reptiles - having learnt most facts about reptiles from him was a fun experience. "anything new going on with you?" i asked my brother - the two of us staying on the facetime call for nearly four hours before we ended it.
