"Seattle Grace? As in Seattle, Washington?"

"Yes...miss...uh..."

"Hudson."

"Miss Hudson, right. Listen, I understand that this is very last minute and my nurse forgot to call and let you know that we had transferred her, so as a way to apologize for that, the hospital will pay for your flight to go to Seattle."

I just stared at him. "But, this is such a small hospital. I mean, how can you afford something like that?" The doctor just laughed. "If we can afford surgery robots, than I'm pretty sure that we can afford to send three people to Seattle." I smiled lightly. "Thank you."

He turned to the nurse and whispered something. "We have a jet that we can allow you to use, but I'm afraid for your flight home you'll have to find a way to pay for it yourselves." I nodded. I turned to Scarlett and Finn, who both looked skeptical.

"Listen, I have some money saved up in my bank account that we can use for the flight home, but right now, if we wanna get to Lexie, this is the best option." They both looked back and forth from each other before nodding.

I turned back to the doctor. She smiled. "Follow me." We followed her through the hospital and up to the place where the plane was. When we got there, she smiled as she turned to us before we boarded the plane. "I really do hope that your friend is okay."

"Thank you." I practically whispered. "And the nurse that was supposed to call you, I will be disciplining her. Just to let you leave with a clear conscience. I smiled and slowly, all of us boarded the plane and headed to Seattle.

As the three of us rode to Seattle, the only thing that crossed my mind was that this was the first time that I would be going to the hospital since I had gotten on my medication. Nearly three years ago. At that same time, was when Finn found out about...things and nearly beat his best friend to death (I think there was still some underlying anger issues there, from what had happened between Puck and Quinn earlier, but they all chose to say that he was angry about me and Puck. Felt great to know that I was the reason his best friend was within an inch of his life).

The plane ride was quiet. Everyone was nervous about what was going to happen when we got to Seattle.

Finally, we arrived. The hospital was huge and we had no idea what to expect. We didn't even know where Lexie was. We were greeted on the runway, by a doctor.

"Hi!" They said. He was cute. Kinda like a lil puppy dog. "Hi!" I said back. He quickly came up to us. "I'm George, but um...when we get in there, it's O'Malley." I nodded. He turned and led us in. "Are you assigned to Lexie's case?" He nodded. "Yeah. Pretty much the whole hospital is...it's a pretty ironic case."

I nodded. Finn leant down to whisper something to me. "A.J, I don't think you should be making friends with the doctors." I scoffed as the two of us walked. "Right. I won't be friends with the doctors that are assigned to your girlfriends case. Do you want her to die? Because I don't. She's like my sister. Now, if being nice is how I cope with tragedy. Let me cope."

I turned back and just continued walking. He led us to a small room where a bunch of people stood. "Wow." I mumbled under my breath. "These are all the doctors assigned to Lexie's case. It's pretty rare that something like this happens, so, whoever got assigned to the case was pretty happy."

I just turned to look at him. "Right. But it's sad."

"If it's alright, can we see her before she goes into surgery?"

George nodded and led us to her room. It was down a long hallway. Her room had sliding glass doors and the sight that I saw when we were standing there, made me loose my breath and stumble backwards. Luckily, Finn was there to catch me so I didn't fall.

"She's got....she's got...Finn, she's got..."

"I know, A.J. I know. I see it."

Scarlett ran over to look at her closer. "Right now, she's in a coma, but she's stable." I turned. Finn still held onto me, because I did have the tendency to faint, and I hadn't been taking my medication for a while. "So...if she gets the surgery, she'll be okay again?" He nodded.

"Can you give us a minute?"

George nodded once more and left the room. "Finn, you don't have the money to pay for this. I don't have the money to pay for this. It's gonna cost thousands of dollars." We both just stood there for a minute. "I have some saved up, but I don't know if it's gonna be enough." I looked back to Lexie. "She needs this, though. She deserves to have this. She's been amazing to everyone. She's my sister. We'll figure it out."

We stood there for a minute in the silence before the doors opened from behind us. George walked in with three other doctors. "Alright, so, before we start anything, I think we should introduce ourselves." The one said.

"Uh...right...I'm A.J." I pointed back to Finn. "This is my brother, Finn. He's Lexie's boyfriend. And over there is Scarlett."

"Well, I'm Dr. Shepherd, head of Neuro. That's Dr. Sloan, head of Plastics. Dr. Torres, head of Ortho, and Dr. Yang, head of Cardio. Um...there is no question that this is going to be a very difficult surgery. This is very rare. Not many people break their necks and spinal chords and become stable hours after. Do we know who has Power of Attorney?"

Finn and I just looked to each other. "Do you wanna do it?" He shook his head. I was going to ask Scarlett, but she looked like she had completely disassociated from the entire thing. "I'll just do it. They're both too messed up to do it." They all nodded.

"Alright, so, we're gonna go and have you fill out some papers and...since it's such a rare case....the hospital would like to document it and possibly have it in the newspaper. There's a consent form for that, that we'll have you sign."

I nodded. "Alright. Follow us." I turned to Finn. "I will be right back, okay? Just...go sit with Scarlett." I walked down the hallway. When we finally got to the room, I sat down in the one chair and the one doctor pulled out a whole folder.

"These are just some consent forms. There are some things that we wanted to mention, in the room, but the way that your friends were acting, we didn't want to worry them more. Okay, Callie?"

Th other doctor stepped forward. "Okay...so there is a seventy-five percent chance that Lexie will never walk again." I chuckled awkwardly. "But a twenty-five percent chance that she will walk again. So, hold onto that twenty-five." She nodded. "But we are going to try our hardest to make sure that she is completely better and that this seems like it never happened."

I looked down to the ground for a minute. "But, another good thing about this happening, is that it's so rare that we are gonna do this pro-bono." I stopped for a minute and looked up. "Pro-bono? That's like I don't have to pay anything for it, right?" She smiled and nodded.

"Thank you."

"Of course. Now, if you start signing those forms. You can get back to your friends, and we can start on Lexie's surgery. The sooner we start, the sooner she will recover and the sooner she can go home."

I smiled through the tears in my eyes. I grabbed the pen and began signing the forms that they wanted me to sign in hopes of saving Lexie's entire life and career.
