It had been nearly two weeks since the gunshot. I went to New York for my birthday to celebrate it with Finn. I was standing at my locker when Sam came up to me.

"Can we...talk? About what happened?" He asked me before I shut my locker. "About the gunshot thing? I talk to a therapist every Wednesday about it. I don't really want to here." He shook his head. "About the...other thing." I took a deep breath before he started his sentence. "You never get that scared. That wasn't you in there. Who was that?"

"That was a terrified little girl who thought she was never gonna see her older brother ever again. I was terrified." He just looked at me. "That’s all you wanna talk about?"

I sighed. "Sam, that entire day is blurry. So please, clarify what you are talking about." He sighed. "You sat with me the entire time. You didn't say a word to Blaine or Artie. You only sat with me and talked to me." I sighed.

"Sam, you are my best friend. You are the only thing that is keeping me from killing people. You were there. You made...you made me feel safe. Like nothing was gonna get me. You...are my new Finn."

The bell rang. "Crap. I have to get to Spanish, but we can talk later...bye Sam!" I called down the hall.

And then, I ran off to Spanish.

[Finn's Point of View]

I hadn't been able to sleep in the days that followed the gunshot thing. I made sure to call A.J every day. She told me that she was going to therapy about it--more like mom made her go to it.

"Finn, your sister called me yesterday." Lexie told me, as she walked out of the bathroom. "She told me that she doesn't need your daily calls, Finn. She wouldn't care if they came once or twice a week. But she doesn't won't them every day."

I sighed and sat down on the bed. "I'm just...worried about her. She's never had to go through that. She went through it alone. Lexie, she went through it alone."

She walked over and sat down next to me. "She wasn't alone. She had Sam, Mr. Shue, Blaine, Artie. She was fine, Finn. More importantly, she's alive." I put my head in my hands. "Go to Lima, Finn. Go be that co-director that Mr. Shue wants you to be. I'll be fine, here. You can come up every other weekend. You can lead them to nationals. You can do it all for them, Finn. Just, go back to Lima."

I sighed and looked at her. "Are you sure?" She nodded. "Go. Go be with your sister. I'll still be here when you get back."

I smiled. I kissed her, grabbed my jacket and ran out the door. I was halfway down the hall before I heard my name. "Finn! You forgot your wallet...and plane voucher." I sighed as I ran back.

"I love you!" She called as I ran down the hallway. "I love you too!"

And I went to Lima as fast as I possibly could.
