Lexie had been in recovery for a few days now. Finn, Scarlett, and I had rotating shifts to stay with her during her physical therapy. Oh, and I should probably update you, she can walk. They did the test the other morning and she was able to move everything below her waist, so fun.

Lexie was better than me right now. If the positions were switched and I were in that hospital bed, all of those doctors would be dead if they were poking me with needles every ten minutes. "A.J, I don't need water every ten minutes." I shook my head.

"The doctor said that you have to drink eight ounces of water every day."

"Eight ounces is one cup."

I looked back to the cup that I had in my hand and then back to her. "Well...I've given you four today so..."

"You've given me thirty-two ounces today. If you give me anymore, I'm going to poke you with needles." I got goosebumps when she said that and shook it off. "Well, I'll put the water over here in case you get really thirsty because you have needles poking you and keeping you dehydrated." She pointed to the one needle that was connected to the water bag. "This is called an IV, that's keeping me hydrated."

My mouth dropped open for a second. "That's what an IV does?" She laughed. "Alright, well, Finn should be coming any minute, so I'm gonna wait until he comes and then I'm gonna call Sam." She sat up a little bit. "Wait. I thought we weren't talking to Sam. After the whole...you know...cheating thing."

"Well, he's um...one of Finn's best friends, so he told him. But god forbid I told Quinn or Puck something and I'd be hearing it until the cows come home." Right after I said that, Finn came running in. "Sorry. I got stuck at the coffee shop. But, go, it's my turn." I nodded and turned to leave.

"Hey!" Lexie called, making me turn around. "Good luck." I smiled. I walked down the long busy hallways, to the elevator and then from the elevator to outside. I grabbed my phone from my pocket and dialed Sam's number.

It rang for a little before he finally picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hey...it's me." I said.

"Yeah...I know. I have caller ID." It was quiet for a moment. "Hey! I got pizza!"

And the voice was indistinguishable.

"Is...is that Mercedes?"

"Yeah. She's been coming over for a while. So, what did you-"

"Yeah. I...um...I have to go. I think Finn's calling me."

"So, I'll talk to you later?"

"Yeah, I don't know. Bye."

I hung up the phone and sat down on the nearest bench to just try and catch my breath.
