Ch 41: Forever Girl

Katsuki POV

Today was the day I planned to do it. I was gonna pop the question. But despite my confidence I was nervous as fuck. I had already asked Sebastian if I should do this, and he said he would be disappointed if I didn't.

I asked my parents and they said "about damn time". My group of idiots more or less said the same thing. Great so everyone is confident she'll say yes, except me cuz there's a 99% chance I'll mess it up and then she'll say no and then...

"Katsuki are you ok?" Thinking of the love of my life must have summoned her because she was standing right in front of my desk. She was a picture of beauty and that coupled with my earlier dilemma caused me to forget how to speak. She placed a hand on my forehead. "If you're getting sick you should tell me," she said worry crossing her gorgeous Afrocentric features.

I took her hand off my forehead and kissed the back of it, making her let out a melodious giggle. I smiled at her softly.

"I'm fine you idiot, besides don't you have someone waiting to be interviewed?" She stuck her tongue out at me before waving as she walked out the door. 

Please let her say yes, I need that woman in my life forever. 

Y/n POV

I left Katsuki and went down to one of the offices on the lower floors. He was right, a girl was coming in wanting to be our secretary. It felt weird that there was going to be a 17 year old working under us 19 and 20 year olds, but beggars can't be choosers and age does not always equal value or lack thereof.

I met the girl in the lobby and guided her up to the interview room. I gave her a smile because she seemed sort of nervous. 

"Hello my name is l/n y/n or the hero Avatar. Welcome to LORRE, how are you this morning?" I said, using my people skills to appear disarming and genial. She seemed to relax a bit and gave me a smile.

"H-hi my name is Chikanari Miki, and I am applying to be your secretary. But you already know that or why else would you be here? Oh gosh I'm rambling. I'm sorry I—" I waved my hands at her so she could take a deep breath. 

"Don't worry about it. Everyone gets nervous sometimes. So I looked at your transcript and resume. You graduated highschool already?" She nodded.

"Yes, I was on an accelerated course because I was apparently really smart. I couldn't get into a hero school with my quirk, but I still want to help people so I thought I could get a job as a secretary. I'm not trying to aim super high, if I have to start with coffee runs that's fine with me." I chuckled a bit.

"There's no need to sell yourself so short. I've already come up with about 10 different ways your quirk could be very helpful. Tell you what, you can start as a secretary and later after some paper work and stuff, we can see if you can work your way up to a sidekick, if you'd like." Her eyes lit up and she nodded enthusiastically.

"Thank you Ms. L/n! Or Ms. Avatar? Ms—" I stopped her before she could freak out again.

"L/n in the workplace is fine. And then Avatar when we're out on the field," I said with a reassuring smile. She saluted me and I took her upstairs to introduce her to the others. Everyone was thrilled to meet her and she soon got used to their boisterous manner. 

The rest of the workday was pretty chill. We had steadily increased in cases we could cover, because the local police station was getting to know us and sending incidents our way. I was just finishing up a few case files when Mina stopped by the door to me and Katsuki's office.

"Hey bestie and bae of bestie. You guys almost done?" She asked. Katsuki answered before I could.

"We'll be done in about an HOUR so you guys can go home." I looked up to see why he stressed the word hour so hard but I just shrugged. Mina giggled and waved as she walked away, followed by Kirishima and Sero.
