Erica sat in her living room and went over some ideas for her new studio. The tv played in the background, the volume low, and every once in a while she’d look up to see what creepy thing the Winchester brothers were dealing with.  As she was trying to work out the number of private rooms she wanted, there was a knock at the door.  She crossed the living room and looked through the peephole.

“Well, this is a surprise,” she said warmly after opening the door.  Erica stepped aside and let Maya in.

“I was getting some papers from the office for a meeting tomorrow and said to myself, ‘Let me go see my BEST FRIEND since I haven’t heard from her'.”  Both women sat on the couch and faced each other.  “So…”

Erica looked at Maya, her face screwed up in confusion, “So what?”

Maya softly pushed Erica’s shoulder and laughed.  “UH, the details of the date.  I want to hear everything!”

“There’s nothing to tell.”  Erica walked to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator.  She yelled back into the living room, “You want a sandwich?”

Maya made her way to the kitchen and stood at the counter giving Erica the side-eye.  “You’re telling me that I haven’t heard from you in umpteen hours and you have no details for me?  GIRL!”

“So you don’t want a sandwich?” Erica asked again with a grin.  She began moving around the kitchen, setting it up to make Monte Cristos.  Maya stood with her arms across her chest and poked her bottom lip out.  Erica laughed at her antics then pat her head.  “Don’t act like that.  Fix your face.”

“I want two sandwiches,” she stated as she pushed Erica’s hand away.  “Now, DETAILS!”

“Lord, you’re impatient!”  Erica stuck her tongue out at Maya and went to work on the food.  Maya flipped her off in return and they both laughed.  “Ok girl, let me tell you.”

_______

“WOW!  Sounds like you had a hell of a time,” Maya exclaimed when Erica finished her recap.

“Now you know why you haven’t heard from me.”

“I said don’t call me the same night, not ditch me for the weekend!”

Erica wrapped her arms around Maya and teased her, "Well, it's Sunday so I'm good!"  Maya pushed her off and laughed.

"You're such an ass!  Speaking of ass, have you heard from Jonathan?"

"Nope.  He's backed off.  He said he would."

Maya was happy to hear this. "Good.  I still wanna beat him for hurting you."  She took the dishes from the table and rinsed them in the kitchen sink.  Erica went back to her plans.  "What you working on?"

Erica hadn't noticed that Maya had come back into the living room. She quickly turned the plans over and smiled.  "It's a surprise," she replied.

"Well now you have to tell me."

"Maya, that's not how surpries work.  You'll see it when I'm ready."

Maya pouted and folded her arms across her chest. "Fine!  At least tell me, does it have anything to do with you quitting your job?"

"Sure does," Erica answered.  Maya squinted at her and then grinned.

"I'm intrigued and you're evil for keeping me in suspense.  On that note, I'm gonna go."  Maya began making her way to the door. Before she could put her hand on the door knob, Erica was beside her.

"I know you not leaving because I won't tell you?!"  Now Erica had her arms folded and was giving Maya the evil eye.

Maya laughed loudly, "No crazy!  I have to be up early for my meeting."  She hugged her friend tightly and kissed her cheek. "Later boo!"  Maya threw the door open and walked out as if she was making her debut.
