Parallel Friendship!!

Gino and Hakamo-o were battling Tapu-Koko to prepare for their soon to be Gran Trial... when the shock of a fierce Spark flung them into a ruined city. There they encountered Guzzlord, a beast who would eat anything... as well as Dia and Zeraora, who were fighting in solitude.

Some time passes by as they went inside of the ruined Pokémon School and all around them, they seen everything demolished, leaving them in shock. They even see many broken pictures around as Gino steps on one and he picks up the pictures inside the glass.

Gino: I knew it... This is our Pokémon School.

Dia: "Our"?

Gino: That's right. I was here just yesterday.

Dia: A parallel world?

Gino: Para... what?

Dia grabs a chalk as he then draws some circles on the chalkboard.

Dia: A parallel world. Suppose that the path splits up, like this... This is A. This is B. You'd like to go to both, but it's impossible to go to worlds A and B at the same time. But if you had pulled that off... You'd be going between what we call parallel worlds. The paths would split up further after that, and even further still later on, giving birth to more and more parallel worlds. You and I were in separate worlds that could never mix. But some sort of accident occurred, bringing you to our world.

Gino: I don't get it at all!

Dia: Well then, I'll tell you about this place. Ten years ago, an event took place here on Melemele Island that would alter the course of the future. The land was brought up, and reckless construction work destroyed the once lush nature. The forest, the ocean, and even the air became polluted. After all of that, Guzzlord appeared. If you pick the wrong path, then the same fate might even befall the world you came from.

We now go ahead to Gino sitting near the stream of the Pokémon School, seeming depressed as he threw a rock in the water as a image of his friends in Alola came on the reflecting water.

Dia: Feeling homesick?

Gino: No. I was just remembering everyone from the Pokémon School. 

Dia: That's what being homesick is.

Gino: I've had so much fun at the Pokémon School... Playing, laughing and battling a lot...

Dia: Want some food?

Dia then led Gino to a nearby fire place where he put some canned beans on a plate and heated it up on the fire.

Gino: Thank you.

Gino ate the food as they enjoyed the taste of it.

Gino: Good! Wait... What about Zeraora?

Gino calls out to Zeraora.

Gino: Hey, Zeraora! Come eat with us!

Zeraora stared at Gino before adverting its gaze away.

Dia: It prefers being alone.

Gino: I thought you guys were partners?

Dia: It's not like it's my Pokémon or anything. I don't know what it's feeling. "I want to send Guzzlord back to its own world..." That wish was what brought us together.

Flashback

We see Guzzlord near the Ultra Hole as it was covered in an Electro Web and Dia had a pulley that aimed a I-Beam aimed at it.

Dia: It's over! Get back in the Ultra Hole already!

He pulled the lever and the I-Beam got launched at Guzzlord as the last second, it strikes it away and gets free of the Electro Web.
